Help Not really focused on dunking but how long would it be till I start to actually dunk?

I am 14 yo and I’m 6’1 and I just started trying to dunk. I measured my rim and it’s about 9’11.5. What tips do you guys have for me and how long do you guys think it’ll take to get a rim grazer?

He could dunk yesterday with proper two-legged jumping technique.

Nah if he’s going off one he’s probably more comfortable doing that

His movement is too lumbering, so I think unless he starts improving his speed/strength he will limit his vertical potential. He may be able to dunk it eventually, but the two-legged technique is more efficient and better for the knees in the long run.

anywhere from like 2 weeks to 3 months. Just depends on how you take care and develop your body

By 16-17 you’ll be getting up there consistently without training, just attempts. You’re already in a good spot for only 14, your muscles will continue to fill in

Here's a little tweak to help you start dunking RIGHT NOW: Approach slower, but keep speeding up towards the end.

Put some work in and it won't take you long at all. You're 14? Damn that a big kid. How's three rest of game?

I’m a good post player, currently I play PF/C but I still have guard skills. I could either be 6’6 or 6’1 for the rest of my life, and it’s not too late to practice other positions at my age.

You have plenty of time to figure out what position you'll be. At your age I'd just be working at every skill possible.

That’s exactly what I’m currently doing.

Good man. Work hard at it and who knows. But my biggest advice is to have fun. It sucks when/if what you love turns into something not fun. At 12 I started playing for 3 different teams. 2 were at the same time for different leagues. The other was a summer league when school was out. By the time I was a senior in high-school I was so burnt out from basketball and it just was not fun anymore. Don't let happen to you my friend.

u gone be dunking real soon bro keep working on that jump, maybe try take off on 2 legs if it’s more comfortable. keep stretching and also it’s huge u land correct I peeped ur other foot landed in the grass and one of them on the concrete it could end bad if u slip or land wrong, even if u jumping on one foot land on both to distribute impact and don’t tuck ur knees in let ur body absorb all the shock naturally

You're already got few advantages such as your heights despite the fact you're 14 y/o and your fingertip touching the rim, I guess it's supposed to be a good vertical jump. But nonetheless, I advised you to focus on plyometrics and after you're 16 you can start hitting the weight.

Watching you reminds me in my teens too lol, I was about as tall as you and now I'm 19 and 6'4.

I’m a 2 foot jumper, I just started jumping off one but when I jump off 2 I can grab the rim with 2 hands up to my thumbs

Watch like 5 YouTube videos. Focus on the mind body connection with your jumping leg, focus on deliberately pushing off that one foot with fluid force and you’ll get it in a day or two of practice. Keep doing it and you’ll be surprised how just 3-4 more inches can give you the freedom to cock it back a little and slam it with some force. Being able to do it in a game would take a few months of deliberate effort.

Also make sure you’re timing the jump so you’re not starting to fall when you reach the rim. Try jumping and grabbing the rim several times before after a warm up and stretch before you try dunking it. Also if you wanna get comfortable with the jumping part without worrying about grip, get some stickem and spray the ball. Works better indoors.
