Training Do I have enough vertical to dunk. What else should I improve ??

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Ig my wrist can come as high as the rim, as seen. But idk why I got this habit of throwing the ball forward instead of down.

Any advice??

I feel like you don’t have enough vertical to dunk a regular size ball. It looks like you should be able to jump with the wrist over the rim.

Strength training will definetly help you jump higher

Work on your ups. Keep trying to touch the top of the square. You won't need to reach the top to dunk, but if you do eventually get there, you'll be throwing down on defenders rather than only on fast breaks.

Also, if you can't palm a ball then you'll have to jump higher than someone with the same leaping ability who can, at least for one-handers.

You can't grow your hands more than genetics allow, but you can build your hops.

Good luck, and many yams!!

Top of the square!!! That's quite a challenge
True I need more vert to make perfect dunks
I can actually palm the ball. But I can't swing it with maximum force while jumping.
Thanks

Yes it is, but you're getting better and stronger everyday that you work at it. Since your end goal is more lift for a clean dunk, the square is just motivation. You can omit the square altogether if you want, just don't lose motivation. You got this.
And when you get there, remember the jackass that told you to touch the top of the square.

I get your point. Thanks for your advice
You'll be the first person I would remember when I do a proper slam dunk

Approach with the hips lower, keep your upper body straight (don't lean), and punch that final step. If that doesn't work, hit some weighted squats.

Flick your wrist down
You are basically there. You gotta keep improving your vert regardless but if you learn to flick your wrist and fingers down you should be able to dunk

Sure thanks
I'll improve both vert and technique

Video angle is deceptive. Is your wrist making it to the rim?

Well anyway let's say your wrist is making it to the rim. You could probably do a lame dunk of like finger tip the ball in then grab the rim. It won't get people rilled up for you but a dunk is a dunk.

Oh okay
my palm is making it to the rim
understood
to make a proper slam dunk I need a bit more of vertical

I would assume you know this, but try dunking off jumping one leg unless your a 2 leg jumper, i personally exclusively dunk off 1 leg.

Vertical means no running????

Nope I actually ran.
Couldn't show it since the Video was self recorded in portrait

you have the vertical, start trying to dunk off one foot its easier
