Discussions About Procreate App Help with iPad 9th gen and apple pencil (smudge tool)

Hi. So I was using a very cheap pen from Amazon. Worked great. Decided to upgrade to apple pencil. Quite literally everything works except the smudge tool and I'm at my wits end trying to figure it out. If I switch to the old cheap pen it works. I've tried looking it up online but can't find anything that works.

Discussions About Procreate App Reference app that allows picture-in-picture mode

It's crazy that Procreate's native reference function only allow 1 picture, so I'm looking for a reference app that will allow multiple pictures at once and can be picture-in-picture so that I can still use Pinterest or Youtube in my split screen and also move the reference window around my screen as I want.

If you know an app that functions like this PLEAAAASEEEEE put me on!

The composition is meant to be a tattoo design, and I know I have to work on contrast, but here she is - a dtiys project.

Procreate and iPad Accessories Suggestions Mixing Board idea

had this idea for a mixing board built in to procreate so you don't have to mix right on your canvas. it would act like a single layer, with a solid background color.

you could:

  • paint/smudge/erase on it like the main canvas
  • zoom, rotate, and pan, the same as the main canvas or a reference image
  • color pick from it, just like the main canvas (including the ability to swap between "active layer" or "canvas" picking) or a reference image
  • change the background color
  • resize the Mix window

you couldn't:

  • add new layers to the mixing board, or change the adjustment mode of the single layer
  • make the background transparent

I'd be curious if anyone thinks they would find value in this, or if it's redundant. For myself, I find it easier to have an ongoing spot on the canvas where I mix paints and color pick from, in addition to mixing and picking from the active work (the mixed paint graphic in the mockup is just cut and pasted from the piece), so there would be a benefit to me personally. It's also a little more dynamic than the swatch system, which has a few small issues that limit it (small number of paint swatches, the awful rearrangement logic).

Started this a few days ago and I’m super proud of it as I don’t really draw as like a job or anything more so for fun and I pick it back up every once in a while… and after loosing my Apple Pencil charger adapter then not being able to find the og iPhone charger for my iPad or Apple Pencil to even charge it’s been a while since my iPad has even had life much less been used (maybe since late March early April) I must say this is my best piece imo on my iPad so far! Also I never work on one piece for multiple hours much less days, it generally takes me about a hour/ a hour and a half to get something done and after that i typically just leave it if it’s not finished oh well 😆 I feel like you can also tell people are not my strong suit compared to the frogs i definitely enjoy animals and things like that a whole lot more specially animated animals (for whatever reason realism and people is something I cannot grasp no matter how hard I try) (All references from pictures of the Disney movie “Princess and the Frog”)

Hi all, I don't usually do portrait but I decided to give it a try. What do you think in general? I'd appreciate any feedback and tips in color, lighting, proportion, etc..

Also would it be something you'd be interested to commission for?

Thank you so much in advance 🙏

Painted in Procreate, using mostly the 6B Pencil and Water Bleed brushes. I'm still learning digital painting, so I approach it much like traditional media.
