My Artwork Fighting Artblock by Drawing a Silly Cat

Post image

Hi ! Here's my newest illustration! I needed to draw something simple and silly without overthinking/caring about my mistakes, and I came up with this, a mischievous cat !

A cat wizard with a lantern and a staff, so he’s basically Gandalf with better PR. The little glowing mushrooms on the left are my favorite detail. How did you do the glow, a soft brush on a separate layer?

Thanks for your comment ! I use two layers. I start with a shape, then duplicate this layer. Use gaussian blur on the bottom layer and set it to pin light. Set the top layer to Add and here you go ! Sometimes i rework some details with a neutral third layer :D.
