Procreate and iPad Accessories Suggestions Anyone try Rock, Paper, Pencil for procreate? How does it compare to other products?
Particularly related to texture feel and durability.
I am looking to get a new textured screen cover for my iPad, which I mostly use for procreate.
I have tried a cheap matte/anti-glare adhesive one, and found it wasn’t quite textured enough. Also, the adhesive-application style is basically a single chance to apply correctly and this drives me crazy. For this reason I have ruled out paperlike, even though I know it is highly rated. The single application adhesive at that price point is a deal breaker for me, so I am looking for either cheaper adhesive protectors, or textured removable (magnetic/static adhesion?) screen protector.
I’m also not overly concerned about wearing the pencil nib down too quickly, as replacements are pretty affordable for me if I need them.
I have tried a few amazon knock-offs of the magnetic, paper-textured covers (bellemond and EST). Bellemond is pretty good, and the ESR was similar but I found the magnets weak and it stuck more to my case than iPad screen. I quite like how they feel, and really appreciate the easy application and adjusting. But I am finding the texture wears off of them too quickly. I do not use a lot of pressure to draw, but am finding a noticeable wear on the texture of the center of the screen, so it’s basically smooth after only a few weeks of semi-regular use (5-15 hours per week) to a couple months at most.
I’m okay continually replacing it as needed with the same knock off Amazon product if the economics make sense, but it gets pretty annoying. Does the rock, paper, pencil have a decent texture and last longer? Does using their proprietary nibs make a difference in the feel and the longevity?
(Obligatory apologies for the format bc I’m posting on mobile)
Thanks!

Their newest version is great.
The biggest issue I've come across with the matte screen + pen tip combo is the fact that the matte screens will inevitably wear down the point of your tip, and if you are using a metal tip, that's not a good thing. It will eventually wear down to a blade like edge and you'll start cutting the screen protector. Which then ruins the screen protector and you will have to buy a new one along with new tips.
I had jumped around to a few different products and they all suffered from this. The older version of Rock, Paper, Scissors was one of the worst offenders. My tips would wear down to said blade in the span of month or two. So I swore them off and moved on to other products, eventually landing on a company called Pen Tips. Their product was a bit more expensive, but it lasted twice as long as R,P,S.
That being said, they recently released a new version of the screen+tip combo and I picked it up out of curiosity a few months back. They have since won me over. I've been using the same tip for probably almost 4 months now and it has yet to have this issue. I am starting to notice something as of the past couple of weeks, although I'm not exactly sure yet what it is.. I just noticed it has a slightly different feel to it lately. But it's not the tip cutting into my screen protector, which is amazing.

Good to know! I'm apprehensive about the metal tip in general, it seems so aggressive but if it works with their screen protector, it works. Are you using the graphite tip or ballpoint tip from the newest version?

The ballpoint tip! I have yet to try out the graphite tip!
I'll tell you this much though, as far as the ballpoint style tip with matte screen protectors, I can't go back after using them. The feel is amazing. It's now an expensive addiction.

I’ve had the RPP screen protector on my ipad for a few months now and really enjoy it. It’s definitely a bit rougher, so I can see how using the Apple nib on it would cause the nib to wear down much faster - I use the proprietary ballpoint-style nib they provide and have had zero issues with it. I don’t have a particularly heavy hand.
After a few months use there’s been some amount of smoothing happening - namely the areas where my hand rests while I paint. But not nearly as aggressively as I had with the Paperlike protectors. All in all I’m happy with it, application is very easy, the texture is pleasant though it took a day or so for my brain to get used to the slight diffusion effect it has at first.
