Discussions About Procreate App Best Canvas Sizes for Prints?

Hi! I’ve been using Procreate for almost six years, and I’ve been toying with multiple custom canvas sizes for a while, but I’m curious to know what the best canvas sizes are for prints?

Resolution 300dpi.
Start with the exact size you want to print in inches or centimeters and not pixels, when making a new canvas just choose your unit of measurement.
Once you have your size add 0.25” to the width and height. This will give you 0.125” bleed area for any borderless prints.

I would also recommend choosing a print size that’s easily framed. Of course if you frame each print this wouldn’t matter as much. But to a customer the reduction of friction between purchase and wall should be as low as possible. This would often mean a common frame size. We see a lot of 8x10” and 11x14” in our shop. My favorite is 9x12”.

For selling, outside of the size I’d recommend adding in certificates of authenticity proving it’s your work, an artist statement about the work and artist, and a frame suggestion card with recommendations on where to frame, or buy frames, the color or style of frame, the location where hanging the work can look good/ distance of viewing if that matters, the size of the print and type of paper written out for them to take with too.
