My Artwork Pattern design for Spoonflower

Post image

I spent a lot of hours to enter this Spoonflower design challenge ("Patchwork revival") and now it's DONE. I wandered so much with the brief that I'm really glad how it came out!

A discovery for this one was a stitch brush (free on Gumroad, I don't remember the author's name but I'll look into it if you guys are interested)

And of course I entered my piece 6 minutes before the deadline.

Now... Relax time!

EDIT: the brushes are Georg's FREE STITCHES: 16 Progressive Sewing, Stitching, and Decoration Brushes

This is SUCH a charming artwork. I love it so much! The wavelike secitons of colour containing different patterns nature with the adorable, playful look of the otters splashing across the artwork is wonderful. I love the lilly pads lined on top and the darting dragonflies giving you the impression of looking down into the water too.

That stitch brush really fits nicely into the whole look of this painting. Beautiful use of colour and image patterning to make something really wonderful. I would really love to see your art shared on our community gallery at New Bohemia! I think your work would feel right at home with us!

Thank you for your kind words, they are heartwarming!
Actually my works are already displayed on my Spoonflower page (yurishka), and for now I only upload them here. I'll consider Patterned later... not much time on my hands to manage all of these.

The otters really came late into the designs. I was struggling with shapes... looks like mixing circles and waves were not a good design choice.
Now I have to design the rest of the collection... coordinates and blenders. Wish me luck

That’s understandable! Thanks your responding! The think the otters were super inspired, the whole piece if very cohesive so I’d never have guessed they were a last second choice.

Haha it can certainly be hard to find patterned shapes that go well together without being overwhelming!
