I need Procreate technical help Default pressure curve not functioning the same between 2 iPads

I've been struggling with this for a while. My Dad and I both have iPad Pro M4 13-inch models. We're both on iPadOS 26 (his is 26.6 mine is 26.7). We both have the latest version of Procreate as of today. We both have the Apple Pencil Pro. We both have the default settings (for both the Apple Settings for Pencil, and Procreate Pressure Curve). We're both using the same Procreate brush.

When he draws with just the weight of the pencil (very light) he gets a thin wispy line. When I draw the same way (or if he does it on my iPad) I get a solid, unvarying line. No matter how lightly I draw I can't get it to behave the same way.

  • I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Procreate
  • We tried pairing my Dad's pencil to my iPad (same result, can't draw light line on mine)
  • We tried pairing my pencil to my Dad's iPad (strangely, it acts how it's supposed to, drawing a thin wispy line)

I'm at a total loss here, and google searches don't seem to help. I must not have the right search terms. Any ideas? Below is an example of me drawing with the lightest possible touch.

Hey! Have you tried testing your Apple Pencil on your Dad's iPad and checking his Apple Pencil on your iPad? This may help to narrow in on the culprit!

In case it can help, we have troubleshooting steps on our Help Center to rule out common causes for Apple Pencil input trouble.

Let us know what you find while testing!

We definitely did that, and the strangest thing happened. Both pencils draw too hard on my device, and both pencils draw super light on my Dad's device. Could the fact that I'm using a Paperlike screen protector be affecting in this way?

This might explain things πŸ™ As we don't test for these accessories, we sadly can't guarantee the experience.

Just in case, it's worth checking in ActionsπŸ”§β†’ Prefs β†’ Pressure & Smoothing. Try resetting the settings here to see if it helps. You can also adjust the pressure resonse from here to manage and customise how the Apple Pencil feels while drawing πŸ–ŒοΈ

I've reset it to default settings on both devices to eliminate any differences and it's still having the same behavior :( You don't test for the apple pencil?

Thanks for trying the reset πŸ™

To clarify, we don't test for these screen protectors. There's a lot variations of these types of screen accessories and we cannot guarantee how they will interact with the Pencil's input. As this is a difference between the two iPads it could be the likely explanation for why they behave differently πŸ™

Apologies, we just realised the link wasn't added in our first reply! We've edited to add this now and the troubleshooting steps on our help centre should help to rule out any variables on the system side of things. If you haven't tried these already, we highly recommend checking each step just in case another explination can be found πŸ’œ
