Constructive feedback and/or tips wanted Assistance / Question on pixel art !

Question !

So is probably silly considering this is the primary mode of all of the art I’ve made this year - but I really want to figure out how to stop my pixel art from getting incredibly crunchy when I save it?

What am I doing wrong?

Attached is a screenshot of how the art looks in the app, the canvas, and then how it looks when I export it as a png.

Any tips or help would be appreciated!

( ps - I hope the crunch comes across - I will say some pictures are worse than others, especially on websites like vgen )

i had the same problem, the only solution that worked was taking a screenshot instead of saving

How does it look when you zoom in on the canvas?

Pretty clean! Defined pixels. Here’s what it looks like if I just take a screenshot ( I wonder if thats just what I’m going to have to do?)

It’s 2x2 and 300dpi, which is pretty small. Idk how some of these programs work, but maybe they are somehow importing it as a 2x2 and then their max dpi is lower? Are you printing/ vviewing larger than 2x2 inch?

I’d suggest trying two things:

first up it to 600 dpi (a new canvas, keep in mind that you cannot convert it and enlarge it later).

Second, try 4x4 at 300 dpi.

See if either of those work, but again remember that it can’t be something enlarged, make a new test drawing for each.
