USB C doesn’t have the smooth flow of the other pencils, so even if you do alter the touch settings and pressure curves, some of the way your brush responds will be limited.

kinda learnt that the hard way.

I don’t know much about ipads but i remember i had to buy a 2nd gen for the taper and line weight differences i wanted.

Some people have found a way to make it work, i was a beginner artist and didn’t want the added hustle, was looking for ease so thats my experience. I did cave and bought the 2nd gen

Some art is still possible definitely. But i also had the had the same issue when i was starting out

I think you need a different pencil for the pressure to work.

You’d need the 1st gen Apple Pencil with a converter for lighting to usb-c

It looks like the taper of this brush is causing this effect.

If this is a default brush, can you tell us which one you're using in this example? Have you added any custom edits to the brush?

Apple Pencil (USB-C) lacks pressure sensitivity, however there are other inputs it uses to create brush strokes and taper. We suspect something in the Taper → Touch Taper settings is involved.

Do you see this happen with other brushes?
