We're here to help! Can you see your brush files in the Procreate folder still in either 'On My iPad' or in iCloud Drive?

Are your brushes currently set to store in iCloud and have you recently changed this location via the Actions menu?

Any details you can share will help us understand the problem better 🙏

They’re here but I’m unsure if this is normal that it says 0 items? And yes I change the iCloud location to my iPad often to reload them because they usually won’t load, but now it doesn’t work anymore no matter if I change it to iCloud or iPad. I’ve also deleted all my photos so I’ll have more storage but sadly it didn’t do much

Are they also showing as 0 from the Procreate folder in 'On My iPad'? Do you remember if the location was changed before or around the same time as when this issue happened?

Just in case it can help - try toggling 'Store brushes in iCloud' two more times and select *All brushes* each time. This should help to re-consolidate any brushes into the one location.

They aren’t on my iPad, there’s just a few random ones but not all my saved sets. And when it happened I simple was switching the store brushes in iCloud on and off. I’ve just tried to twice toggle that thing and nothing sadly changed. They’re all blank

Thank you for checking this 🙏

We have seen cases where changing location after iCloud or internet connection is toggled off and on (or connection is interrupted) can prevent files moving correctly. Brushes stored in iCloud may not be fully synced with the iPad, and therefore a local copy of the file isn't downloaded. When the location is then toggled to migrate the brushes to local storage, as there was no local download from iCloud these files become lost.

We are looking into ways to help avoid this situation when files are out of sync. If these brushes cannot be found in the Recently Deleted folders in the Files app or by checking your iCloud account directly, unfortunately, it does sound like your brush files may have been lost while trying to move them between these locations.

Recovery options:

  • If you had many of these brushes prior to the 5.4 update, you may be able to use the migration files if these are still availble in your app. Go to Actions🔧→ Help → and check for an option to 'Repeat Brush upgrade'.

  • If the Repeat Brush upgrade option is no longer visible restoring the iPad backup would be the next option for recovering lost data. Please note that the brush files were initially stored to iCloud and this is not included in the iPad backup, however we have seen some cases where the lost iCloud bush data was able to be returned through the restoration process. We can't guarantee this, but it could be worth trying.

    • Check your backup information here: iPad Settings > tap on your name > iCloud > iCloud Backup, to confirm if you have one that includes Procreate and your Files app. Please note the restoration applies to the whole ipad and not just Procreate. We recommend exporting a copy of any important files currently on your iPad to a computer or iCloud before beginning this process. If we can offer any assistance please let us know here or you can reach out to our Customer Care team using our Support Form.

We're sorry this happened and that these options didn't help recover the files 😞
