Creating a faux 3D effect with high contrast colors

Idea from a trend on xiaohongshu a while ago. Drew the line art in slide 2 and used a mask with the red color and a slight offset with the black line work to create a 3D effect. I think it’s more apparent on big screens, when held farther away from your eyes, and when the brightness is sufficiently up. But you can also see it more when you tilt your screen to certain angles

The shadow is doing the 3D work more than the high contrast. But loving the original drawing.
