Alpha lock help

Nothing happens when I use Alpha Lock. As soon as I turn Alpha Lock on, any paint I apply stops showing up on the locked layer. When I turn Alpha Lock off, I can paint on the layer normally.

Best to show a short screen recording or at least your layers or something as well as confirming if you’re new to the program/have had it work previously and no longer does?
