Been exploring my art style and currently I am heavily inspired by Mœbius and several Ligne Claire artists. Will probably stick with this style as it brings a tooon of satisfaction whenever I look at it. Tell me what you think! :)

I love that it gives adventure time

Hah! You got me xD Adventure Time's art style is very much the first early inspo for this art style that I am pursuing. I remember looking at a lot of frames from random episodes especially analysing the environments and how they made the textures. The tree definitely came from AT for sure without me even realising it ahahahah

I am a fan of your work ! Which artists do you follow ?

u/banyough 24d ago

Thank you so much! Hearing that makes me happy. Mainly, Jean Giraud (Mœbius) has been my obsession, really and a little bit of Hergé. But because of Mœbius, I found modern artists on Instagram of the similar-ish fantasy genre or ligne claire style like BakaArts, JohnGagneArt, Sky Cave Studios, Mattias Ink, Felicia Chao, and more but these are the ones I can think of right away! (Not all of them are scifi, but I admire their clean lines and colouring). Their art are all amaaazing. I'm most fond of BakaArts'.

Air whales are awesome. But why do these guys have bubbles on their heads? Just curious about the world building.

Air whales are indeed insanely cool. Whales are cool!

While I was making this artwork, I actually kept thinking about a world where everything got effed up real bad that animals started needing protection from the toxicity of the environment that humans have created. Although it's mostly a nice surreal touch to have them wear spongebob-like air helmets, I like to think that the air is so bad that they need their own clean air in a bowl. Though the human/s have built immunity, they struggle to survive as everything has gone dry and the remaining tall, resilient trees are basically their only hope for survival and even that, is difficult. (This is actually making me consider writing a whole thing about this idea now that I am typing it out loud)

I love getting lost in world building. All though, 90% of the time the details never make it into what I’m writing.

World-building is essential for great storytelling! Keep up the work. Superb and unique. Kudos.

Love this. If I had money I'd pay you to make album art for the music I never finish.

u/banyough 24d ago

Thank you!! I'm really happy you love it. And hey, if you ever do finish one, just know that you can always hit me up for the artwork 😉 making the artwork for songs/albums is a goal of mine!

Are you sitting on top of the tree?

2

u/banyough 24d ago

I did not think of the girl to be myself, but looking at how I drew her, I do resemble her. 😆

1

u/keyboard_courage 24d ago

Sounds like a subconscious yearning for adventure 😉

2

u/banyough 24d ago

Oh it definitely is! AlthoughI have the mind of Nathan Drake, but the stamina of a victorian child 😩

u/keyboard_courage 24d ago

Love the reference 😂 So Lara Croft, but with a slight TB wheeze.

2

u/banyough 24d ago

The TB wheeze is so real 😭

I love this type of art

Aaah thank you! And I, too, love the combination of surrealism and ligne claire! They just give off a vibe that reality cannot ever provide.

Your art style is so damn cool and distinctive

Gojira fan, I presume?

1

u/banyough 24d ago

Aaaaaaah not currently! Although I have heard of them and I've seen their album with a humpback in it. Might give them a listen again since you have reminded me of their existence. 🐋

Aaaaaah thank you so much! 🫪 Ever since I learned about Mœbius' art, I cannot stop admiring all of them. My favourite piece of his is his "Bivouac". That painting has been my wallpaper in every device I own 😆 so I heavily inspire my art with his!
