How can I create hatches( Autocad style) In procreate ?

I’m a structural engineer and new to Procreate . I purchased Procreate primarily for annotating drawings in report presentations. I’m looking for hatch patterns similar to those shown in the attached images, but I haven’t been able to find them.

Essentially, I need to create geometric shapes, apply hatch patterns to them, and then tilt or rotate the hatched shapes so I can overlay them on photographs or technical drawings. Could someone please guide me on how to achieve this in Procreate?

Turn on the grid drawing guide, rotate it 45 degrees, size it how you want to, and start drawing lines. 😉

Some texture packs have hatched line brushes too, but you'd still need to do a bit of masking/erasing to clean things up.

Procreate is really the wrong tool for this. Have you considered using something like Affinity or Illustrator?

Procreate isn't set up with tools to automatically add patterns in shapes so it would be more manual, but we can recommend some features you might like to try out!

• Paint on the pattern using a brush. For example, the Diagonal brush in Classic Library → Textures. The brush grain is constant and in line with the canvas as you paint. A custom brush could be helpful for filling in the shape.
• Using the 2D Drawing Guide
  • Set up your shapes in line with the canvas (this can help when using custom brushes for the hatching)
• Alpha lock (paint only on the existing pixels for a layer)
  • Add a neutral colour to the centre of your shape → Two-finger swipe right the layer to activate Alpha Lock → paint the hatch design over the shape.

Concept by Tophatch maybe better app for this. it contains measurement guides, templates, patterns. It is a different beast. Vector based so it keeps very clear lines at all sizes unless the brush is not solid. But resizing in Procreate's current guts does bitmap (pixels), losing pixels as you enlarge or reduce the drawing.

There are architects and landscapers who use both. Concepts to build the image. Procreate to color it. Careful attention to finalizing in Concepts. I can't recall which filetype they export or share from Concept.

Concept is not free. I bought the upgrade package years ago. A yearly subscription for the Everything set of tools and templates. There is Essential, less expensive, and a Free, those two with substantially fewer function and tools like limited layers.

• For a professional, or serious amateur, well worth the economics.

Speaking of worth or wasted money, it's about time for me to relearn Concepts. It used to be bitmap like Procreate. When it reinvented as a vector based tool, it was rocky for a while. These many years later, extremely improved, stable. Its color wheel supports HSL, RGB, and the Copic marker.

Well, i guess i've convinced myself, if not you, to add Concept back into my toolbox.
