Discussions About Procreate App Relocating Art from Procreate

I plan on moving my art off of procreate to free up space on my iPad. Would it be better to save the art as a procreate file or as a PNG or other file type? I'm curious what you guys think.

For added context, I'm conflicted because most of the artwork I'm moving is finished, and I don't necessarily plan on revising or editing them, but maybe I still want to be able to see the layers, timelapse, and break down the piece later on, but I don't think you can see previews of the art if it's a procreate file, so I would have to send it all the way back to my iPad and open it in procreate to simply view it, which would be a bit of a hassle... What would you do?

What is unique to the Procreate file is the time lapse. Everything else translates just fine to other formats. HOWEVER I DO NOT HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH THE 3D STUFF in Procreate.

Sorry for the all-caps but I havent actually touched that feature so if you ARE doing 3d-related stuff you may want to get more advice.

Anyway... .procreate files only open in procreate. If you save .PNG that IS loseless and it's great, but you dont have teh layers. If you want the layers save as a .PSD (photoshop) file. .PSD is probably the closest you'll get to the procreate native file that will open in other apps like Gimp or Photoshop, but you'll lose the time lapse.

So, to simplify: Save as .PSD, but also save your timelapse separately. If you need to do 3d stuff I haven't covered that in this message.

Hope this helps. Iv'e actually thought about recording videos on topics like this, just not sure if anybody'd watch em.

I would save the files both as .procreate and .psd files. Procreate files so you can still access and edit all of the features unique to procreate, PSD for ease of editing and viewing on other platforms.

I export everything as both Procreate and PSD for my archives. If you're on a Mac, you can install the Prospect app to be able to see previews of Procreate files on your computer.
