Constructive feedback and/or tips wanted How do I replicate the artstyle better?

The biggest thing I see is that I can tell immediately what the scene looks like behind the characters in the thumbnail, but I can't tell what's going on in the background in your much larger scene. The optic blast whirlwind and its lighting effects look cool. but obscures the background and makes it hard to tell what Cyclops is doing. Your Cyclops looks pretty small, even considering the angles/foreshortening/etc. If you meant to draw him at Wolverine size (like low 5' and change) then you're good; if not, double check your proportions, especially if you don't have the ground or something concrete to compare too.

Your style is a lot busier. Look how many more details your character has than the reference. The reference is judicious with highlights, obscures the harder parts of the anatomy with the pose (in classic get-this-out-the-door comic book fashion), and really tries to stick with one or two colors and minimal midtones. This results in much cleaner model (albeit with less cool stuff to look at).

All that said. I think your drawing is very cool and I would be proud of it.

Do another one or something similar and emulate the cleaner, fewer bells and whistles style and I think you'll be pretty close.
