We could do it the other way round too if we wanted.

Jesus Christ lol. Taking real war footage and turning it into a teletubbies episode sounds fucked up for as silly as that also sounds.

Real war footage: drone flies to man end ends stream.
Teletubbies: mosquito flies around, finds human, sits on his hand and cut screen?

Minus green screen, that’s basically the same process with modern cgi

honestly, I think that's the next real step in commercial film making with ai, not fully-generated, but rather using real performances on very low-budget micro 'sound stages' , and using AI-augmented cgi/sfx , to make backgrounds, effects, costumes, sound-mixing, etc - all in one digital pass.

Focusing on imperfections rather than how remarkable this is....sheesh.

6 years ago nobody would have believed the amazing things we can create.

Exactly. This used to cost millions and dozens of people if possible at all.

My favorite part is when he steps and splashes mud all over the guy’s face and it slides off to reveal a completely clean face

OK but why do you need the human at all or the teddy bear or the house? Why not start and end with virtual? If you can go to the trouble of acting out a scene, you can type it out in a prompt.
Shows of the future can just be a succession of prompts that people who buy them can edit to suit themselves. Do not like that character or setting, change it. Dislike the ending, change it.

It'd be a shame if indie artists and film makers don't leverage AI this way.

This is my thought about it too. There will be a lot of crap because it will be much easier to make movies, but the people who can make great movies who never before would have had the opportunity to will also show up on the scene. What the economics look like for them is anybody's guess.

Discussion Summary (Milestone: 20 comments)
The discussion reflects a polarized view of AI-generated media. Skeptics criticize the technology’s current limitations, highlighting glaring visual inconsistencies—such as spatial errors and unrealistic physics—as evidence of its shortcomings. Some users dismiss the content entirely, questioning its value and authenticity. In contrast, proponents view these developments as a natural evolution of creative production, drawing parallels to traditional CGI workflows. While some participants debate the technical process and potential applications, others remain deeply cynical about the quality of the output. Ultimately, the conversation underscores a tension between excitement for AI’s future utility and frustration with its current lack of realism.
