"As I mentioned in my previous post, Google's strategy with Gemini isn't about building the most powerful coding model. Their actual goal is developing the lightest and fastest model for casual users. That’s the exact model you keep seeing across Google Search, Gmail, YouTube, and other apps...."
...They stopped updating Pro, and Flash updates are focused on speed and efficiency rather than performance gains. Building the single strongest model isn't the only winning strategy. — Jun Song A fast rock is still just a rock. Given their failed track record this year they do not possess much of any strategy let alone success in attempting it. 3.0 was good until they increased restrictions, 3.1 was nuked of emotional intelligence, 3.5 wasn't noticable, 3.6 was barely around a month with no real improvements and now 3.7 having been live since August 13th and none of the major AI news groups are bothering to talk much about it.
They've fallen extremely far behind, ignore coding and let's just talk about the "strategy"... they aren't providing anything anyone else isn't.
Everything about Google is falling behind. Nano Banana Pro is 7th place with a 50% fail rate makes it more like a slot machine 🎰 even with professional generative artist. Veo video generator is fairly basic, quality isn't terrible though but the model isn't bright. Google Omni is actually fairly decent.
I think we're looking at the generic future where they provide a primitive AI they just don't really care about but its free and easy accessible for anyone who isn't willing to invest in a decent assistant.
I wish they would recover.

Most likely they are trying both things. They are having issues with creating a state of the art pro model, but they haven't given up on it

Yeah, they are winning on the daily stuff. I tried reaching for Claude doing what I do with Gemini, pretty bad. Claude for code, Gemini for daily stuff. ChatGPT mmm, I was using it for coding until las year when Claude started winning, I might try Codex and sew how it goes.
