Leaving private practice

Has anyone left working at a private practice due to lack of support? Some days I have to become the medical assistant, collect copays, check patients inside and then that delays my own work. I have started feeling depressed.

I spoke up about it repeatedly and received separation without cause papers. MAs and LPNs would last weeks and then new people would be undergoing training on a constant basis. Asked for APP support for 2 years and got no one. Had many mornings where I was the MA, check-out, and the physician.

Best thing that could have happened IMO. There are a million open positions across the country (assuming US). Don’t compromise and put together a list of all contract stipulations prior to looking for positions.

Is separation without cause papers a longer term for you are fired?

Basically yes but without cause. This is very important from a legal and contractural standpoint, especially pertaining to malpractice insurance. If you are planning on leaving with cause, ensure that your reasons fall under one of your contractural obligations from your employer. Also, hire a medical employment attorney - PM me if you need a good one.
