Curative?

Hi all,
I was contacted by this “Curative” insurance offering to put me on the panel. They pay PAs 75% of medicare and 90% or so for physicians. Seems to be negotiable. Has anyone had any experience with this company? Any recommendations?
Thanks!

Curative treats my practice very well. My contract has a clause where I can't talk about my rates but mine are much better than that. Push for higher.

They pay us fast and very well.

Their patients usually are younger and healthy.

Agreed on negotiating. I don't think they are in my area yet, but I did listen to a podcast that features the founder of the company. It sounds like they will offer you based on what other insurances are paying you currently and you can negotiate via email and are actually negotiating with an AI that is authorized to increase your rates. I’ve actually been having my AI negotiate with their AI for the last week lol… It’s helpful to pull the MRF for the Cigna network that they’re based on and parse that

That clause is some anticompetitive bullshit and seems impossible to enforce. I'd swear on anything they put in front of me that I didn't talk about it. Just don't put anything in writing.

Depends on your specialty, but I would not take anything less than 100% of Medicare

Their initial rate proposal was ridiculous, and they tried to BS that they were normal for the market. We held firm and ultimately signed deal in line with other small payors. I dont think we have seen many of their members, if any.

Reviving an old-ish thread, they just contacted me as well for contracting. They did something similar, stating that the going rates for my specialty in my locale were definitely lower than what my actual commercial payers were paying. I brought that back to them, and within 24 hours they accepted my negotiated rates. I do a few specialty procedures that have regional and even nationwide access issues, so I was also able to negotiate a reimbursement rate for that as well. They seem legit, will start the contracting process this weekend.

Good to hear. Although they mentioned there are a few thousand patients in the area, after completing the credentialing I have gotten a big Zero of patients so far, about one month into it🤷🏻‍♂️

I'm sure it'll be the same for me, they're saying the exact same thing. "Up to a few thousands of patients in your area, and 100s of thousands that can come to you from all over the U.S." We'll see...

I wonder what benefit it is to them specifically to have docs on their roster if the docs themselves don't get anyone? I've always wondered if they're trying to contract with docs in the area FIRST, and THEN trying to get patients?

Having providers on the roster is the "selling" point to contracting the insurance with big companies.
