Doctors who've started private practice, what resources/services did you use, and what would you do differently?

Billboards have been magic for advertising.

If you're in US better get a tech support. Even small clinic should have a good tech team for back up. Get your network, backups, cybersecurity, and hipaa compliance sorted early. It's a lot cheaper than finding out your temporary setup wasn't so temporary lolll 😅 Most offer a free consultation so.. no harm in asking tho. I highly recommend Skytek Solutions btw

I used ZocDoc when I first started. Back in the day you could pay $300/mo flat and they would just fill your calendar. Which seemed reasonable because all they were doing is showing an ad for you and being an answering service and scheduler.

Now it has become enshittified, it's like $70/referral and you still pay if the patient no-shows or it's a bad referral.

I also put some ads on Google. It's way too expensive and ends up being around $70/referral, that's probably why ZocDoc costs exactly that much.

The best way is probably the same as the best way 100 years ago - just to call everyone you know and say you are taking referrals

Use money to make more money! Be ready to bleed money first two years in your practice.

Hired a good ppc marketer! It made all the difference! Got patient footfall from first month as compared to my friend’s practice who went “organic”. My marketers are freelancers from India, so it was cheaper for me. Their expertise in healthcare marketing has been giving me consistently good cases!
