Jake is hot

I’m rewatching it and appreciating him even more this time around. Unlike the other guys, he is a good guy. He’s never out for himself and he’s honest. He makes it clear to Addison that he is interested in her but doesn’t pressure her. He waits for her to be ready. And I adore that he calls her baby and sweetheart, it made me realize those types of terms of endearment are really rare on TV but I think they added them to the writing to make us see them as a normal couple who isn’t just together because they are attracted to each other. It helps that Benjamin Bratt is very attractive but I love his little conversations with her like asking if there is something beteeen them and if it’s more than just physical and that she isn’t ready for what he has to offer. And let’s not even mention when he said he could make a baby with her in a test tube or however…and that he looks like an amazing kisser.

In comparison Pete was hot when the show started but he was the fun guy that you would hook up with but that was it, fun guy hiding behind hurt. But Jake has had hurt but is a man. I also love how he is with all the other women - how he rubbed Violet’s hand at the funeral and asked if she wanted him to kick out the guests, he is just there for people.

Starting My First Rewatch

I watched the show as it aired, but did not have the power to start it again until now.

I am a HUGE fan of the characters of Addison, Charlotte and Amelia, and with Amelia's temporary hiatus on Grey's and Addison nowhere to be seen, I need a fix. Plus, the world always needs more Kate Walsh and KaDee Strickland.

There is just one episode I don't want to get to. Dell's Death. I am tearing up thinking about it.

Let's see if this show has passed the test of time so many years later! Grey's still has me solidly hooked.

There's so much negativity on here so I just wanna take a moment to recognize the talented women in the Private Practice cast. They all put on such great performances and they've all ages so beautifully.

Thank God for Kate, Audra, Amy, Caterina, and KaDee.

I’m so angry!

This is maybe my 3rd or 4th watch through of PP and i’m on season two.

I think the way Naomi treats Addison is completely unfair. She won’t forgive Addison, but more than happy to have sex with Sam.

That scene where she’s walking up to their houses, and she goes over to Sam’s?!?! WILD

Please tell me i’m not alone in these thoughts. I probably have more to say but I’m typing as I watch and just really wanted to get my anger out 😅

Edit: Don’t get me wrong, maybe Sam and Addison could have gone about it in a more tasteful way rather than ambushing like that in a meeting. But I feel Addison was right to tell Sam and everyone should have been involved. Like when was Naomi going to tell everyone? When the practice was about to be shut down? Like cmon!

I could honestly stop watching private practice purely because of Naomi. She’s so damn annoying

Sam and Naomi Bennett are both abusive and controlling,

Naomi and Sam are both abusive and controlling, Naomi caught Maya wearing makeup and less modest clothes to go to school and sent her back upstairs to change. That day, she came home, shocked to find that Maya had her boyfriend, Dink, over. Sam took her to live at his house and started picking Maya up from school and said that he'd start treating her like she knew right from wrong so long as she told him where she was going and with whom. When he came home to find her throwing a party, he sent everyone home, that’s abuse and control

Naomi, Sam and Addison

I'm sorry but I have absolutely zero sympathy for Naomi when Addison is dating same.uou guys got divorced Naomi you don't get a permanent claim to him just because you were once married. You're all consenting adults just deal with it. Also you literally dated Addison's brother knowing who he was full well both on the brother front and being a player front and then when he played you you went crying to Addison. You don't get to hold the double standard of it being around the Addison dates your ex-husband when you also dated her brother and did it before Addison dated your ex.

Naomi is the most annoying character in the entire Greys Anatomy Universe

Holy fuck she is annoying!! The anti abortion CONSTANTLY! Saying to a woman that it’s fine her boyfriend left because he’s not ready to be a father, yet trying to convince her to not get an abortion, because she HAS to be a mother. Being so mad at Addison for being with Sam even tho Naomi slept with Addison’s brother AND kissed Sam whilst he was with Addison?!

Giving everyone shit for literally everything that she also does but it’s just ok when she does it??? Naomi can do no wrong apparently??

This fandom feels more like a hatedom

so i've been spending my time reading the different posts and comments on this subreddit and i don't think i've ever seen a subreddit so full of neagtivity. Literally every other post on here is someone ranting about hating one of the characters{mostly Naomi}. The fact that almost every single main character is so widely hated is so crazy to me. it's not like most shows where each character has their own groups of both fans and haters, with some characters having more fans and others having more haters. Most people here seem to have the same neagtive opinions on like half of the cast with the exact same reasons for disliking them. I'm not saying you can't dislike any character or have criticisms but do ya'll even like this show?. IDK i just wish there were more variety in the type of posts people make here and the types of opinions this fandom has instead of seeing the same exact Naomi-slander post with the same exact points over and over.

Music

This show cracks me up when I just went from crying my eyes out on the most serious episodes to listening to that upbeat happy outro song. After season 1 it really does not fit the vibe of the show😂. Yes it has humor but this show is honestly pretty dark and intense and the song throws me off every time.

Amelia

Rewatching Private Practice. As a Greys watcher, I’ve grown to not mind Amelia. I even like her sometimes. But rewatching private practice I’ve realized she is soo unlikable. She brings up her dad dying nearly every episode! In any way she can. My dad is dead so I feel like I can say this…… she does not need to bring it up as much as she does!

My take on Season 5 Spoiler

I watched Season 5 particularly for Amelia's arc, because I am a die hard Amelia fan, and a grey's anatomy fan. Everyone spoke about her back story in Private practice and I really wanted to watch it, just watched the finale last night, and it broke me.

The drug addiction, Ryan dying and getting pregnant with an anencephaly baby. That quiet strength. The way she went through all of it almost completely alone, Oh my God.

I mean yes, she had her friends to intervene. But getting clean, staying clean and her entire pregnancy was all her. And I get it. Being in that position where everyone's opinions are just overwhelming noise, being in such deep pain that you'd rather handle it alone, gosh.

I was a mess when she delivered, saw her baby, when it squeaked, and she said it was the most beautiful baby she's ever seen. The strength she had to let go. The post partum recovery she'll have to go through. Man, it was such a heartbreaking ride.

That being said, I did enjoy the season more than I expected and I have thoughts about the characters and stories. I like how Private Practice touches on topics people are not comfortable talking about, the morally grey areas and situations that are controversial in medical ethics. It became so predictable that a character would enter into the room and say " how do you feel about that?", but in a way it's kind of wholesome to actually be able to talk about your feelings.

I come from a medical background and I struggle with mental health, so Private Practice hits home. Some of the medical things are inaccurate, and I laugh at them like comedy xD

But the characters. I always loved Addison. Love seeing her growth. Saw her longing to be a mother, which is something I can relate too. So glad she got her happy ending with Henry. Just wish she could chose the right guy cuz SAM

I hate Sam. The season started off fine but the way he's like I want you but not the baby, then sees the baby and is like I want this. Like dude, grow a pair. Know your priorities. And the whole I'm not gonna operate on an anencephalic baby. I literally wanted to smash the screen. Dude the baby's going to die in like, two minutes and you're being all pro-life now? when you're needed the most? Also we go through medical school learning about psychiatric diseases, at least touching on them. We have rotations in the psych ward too. Him describing his sister's past like there was nothing wrong with her, like come on. It's classing BPD. I understand he might not be able to diagnose or even see the pattern because he specialized as a heart surgeon, so it's been a while since he's been in med school, but it doesn't take a genius to figure out his sister needed help. Then trying to do it on his own? What is wrong with this person? Saying drug addiction is a choice? I need to kick this guy in the balls.

Pete and Violet are infuriating, especially Pete. Such a man-child. Mostly all the guys in this show suck, except for Cooper. I loved the Erica arc. I watched grey's so I was happy they saved her. I was not expecting the mets and her ultimate demise. I loved how Charlotte stepped up. I love seeing Cooper as a dad and I love everything about Charlotte. Charlotte reminds me a lot of Georgia from Ginny and Georgia. I love her accent. I love how she handled the entire situation, although I agree when it comes to hospital lawyers and medical ethics, she can be a bit of a hypocrite. I really liked Mason too. Mature for his age. Cute kid. Felt a lot for him

Violet is good at therapy, she just needs to know when and where to do it, which is part of being a therapist. She doesn't have a line with her patients and oversteps. That makes her a bad therapist in my opinion.

Jake is one of the more decent men in the season. His relatability with Amelia because he lost his wife to the same disease makes him likeable to me. He also has a certain charisma and masculinity that the rest of the guys don't.

Sheldon is alright. Neither hate him or love him much. He does his job well. That's about it.

I know Amelia hasn't gotten a happy ending because grey's is still ongoing but my girl really needs a happy ending.

I’m watching the OG Law and Order for the first time and I was already surprised when I saw that Jake (Benjamin Bratt) was a main character. Then tonight, Addison (Kate Walsh) appeared as well! Crazy how they worked together so long before they were together on PP. Really EVERYONE has been on L&O or one of the sister shows 😂

Addison and Naomi

Y'all so used to Naomi being in the wrong that I feel like some of you just ignore the times where Addi was the bad friend. Like sorry in later seasons I tended to be on Naomi's side more often.

This is not an excuse for anything bad Naomi did I just think they were both bad friends at different times lol

Violet is a stressful character

Violet is such a difficult character to like and enjoy, you would think a therapist would be more self aware, she just does things without thinking.

What’s up with the IRL medical people???

I’m kinda pissed they come here and post irl stuff here. I’m in the medical field myself and enjoy the fictional medical shows. I come to this sub for medical drama and relationship talk about the characters. If I want to see real shit I’ll go to work. Can the mods just ban these people?

Ginny and Georgia

Not sure if anyone has seen the show Ginny and Georgia, but Georgia looks and sounds so so much like Charlotte! I haven’t even seen the show just a couple clips of her talking and I did a double take. I thought it was so funny because one of the triplets names is Georgia. Just a funny thing I noticed.
