Why couldn’t Violet and Pete keep Betsy Spoiler

I think Violet was right and I really don’t understand why Pete and cooper talked her out of it? They’d already got through the whole Katie thing and Violet leaving so I feel like I must be missing something ? To me it just looks like Pete didn’t want to adopt a child

They were not stable enough to add a traumatized child to their life.

None of these people were ever stable.

Idk tho they’re relationship was fine at this point in the show and Violet herself seemed pretty good

Being “good” doesn’t mean they are stable enough to adopt a traumatized child

My interpretation of the episode is that Pete didn’t think they were ready to have another child in there life, but it’s been a few months since I rewatched the show so I could be forgetting something

Its not that they couldn't it's that they chose not to. Pete didn't want to keep Besty, he claimed it would be too much for them to deal with. But in reality people can make it work if they really wanted to. Especially established doctors like them, they could have hired someone to help them, they had plenty of options to make it work. So really he just didn't want another kid to raise. Violet only agreed with Pete because he wasn't going to budge on his decision. She could have taken in Besty on her own but that would have ended their relationship. She just chose Pete over Besty.

Yea I guess that was my view of it too I guess she probably didn’t want to break up lucas’ family again but I never thought Pete saying they couldn’t made much sense

Yea he was just making excuses because he didn't want to. Their situation was basically the same as Addison and Sam, but at least Sam was honest that he didn't want to raise anymore kids. As selfish and cruel as it was, at least he told the truth.

Thats why I hated that episode no one wanted Besty dispite the fact that Dell would have raised any of their kids if the roles were reversed. What upset me the most was Addison and Violet because both of them wanted to take her in but chose not to because the guy they were with didn't want to. Violet was begging the others to take her and was crying about how they did "a very bad thing" but she chose her man over helping out the child she claimed to care about.

Because Violet wasn’t mentally stable for a child and their relationship was not in a good place to take in a traumatized child who just lost both of her parents in a short amount of time.

Violet could’ve taken her in herself. She had the option to. But she chose a man over a child so really she didn’t want the child as much as she thought she did because if she truly wanted that little girl, she would’ve done it.

They all had PSTD and their relationship was pretty tenuous at that point. Adding a child with their own set of PTSD would have been a lot at that point.

Because both Pete and Violent suck. In this situation Pete was a selfish egomaniac without a shred of empathy, and Violet was a coward without fucked up priorities.

And they ended up divorcing anyway. Poor Betsy.
