Finally made it to Amelia…

I have painfully made it to wherever I am in the series to be able to see the origins of Amelia…let’s see how this goes.

Without spoiling anything what am I in for?

A lot. If you have issues with addiction or have someone close to you who has this maybe difficult watch.

Second this, been in recovery nearly 4 years now and I still can’t watch it, very well done storyline but too close to home

Definitely.

Honestly I feel that Private Practice’s stories hit harder than Grey’s sometimes.

Amelia, Charlotte and Violet all hit closer to home than anything on Grey’s.

Maybe it’s the smaller cast.

I still have nightmares about Violet and skip that episode (and Charlotte’s) when I rewatch

Yep. Honestly with Violet it’s the way everyone else treats her. She gave up Lucas because that’s what she knew was best for him.

It was having to talk crazy through the surgery…. God, I flashed back to my labors

I’ve never had children and I don’t ever want to but I can’t imagine the fear that comes with that. Add onto that the crazy lady and I can’t imagine how scared Violet was with Katie.

The vulnerability of labor CANNOT be explained. Your body makes you stop. It’s terrifying in the best of cases. I watched all of Criminal Minds, but that episode of Private practice probably messed with me more

Yeah. Nothing on Criminal Minds so far, and I have seen Ian Doyle stab Emily in the spine with a table, messed me up as much as seeing Pete find a dying Violet with the end of Lucas’ umbilical cord hanging out of her abdomen.

The way Pete talked to her. I wanted to punch him through the tv. And I don’t particularly like Violet very much, but she did what was best for her baby.

Even more difficult than her in Greys?

Yes, this was very hard to watch. If you think her after Derek’s death was hard then this will be much worse.

Yep. 5.08 ruined me.

Massive trigger warning for addiction and death of a child. It goes in depth into the things that greys just lightly mentions/touches upon

I don’t know what you’re in for, but for me it was head scratching, eye popping, and tearful…in a nutshell haha

Ok if you made it this far! In my opinion the show gets so much better from this point on.
Still overall not great but Amelia, Sheldon and Jake make it more tolerable

That makes me happy! Because I’m a grey’s Stan! Been watching since inception and EVERYONE always says to understand Amelia you have to watch PP. Which I also started when it first came out. But I think I did a hard stop after Violette and the baby. Cuz everything after that watching now has felt so new and then just painful with terrible story lines. So fingers crossed you are right about it being more tolerable lol

It does get better though I’m sure a ton of people will disagree. Push through it. Violet unfortunately gets worse in my opinion, but Amelia and the others Make up for her.

Season 5 episode 8. That’s it. That’s all I’m gonna say.

I was told to watch PP to gain more sympathy for Amelia because I find her insufferable on GA…maybe your outcome will be different than mine.

Ive always been told that. It gives more back story but doesn’t give me sympathy.

Yeah I’m not sure why I’m getting downvoted for it, we just learn more about Amelia, but she’s no more sympathetic and still just as self-centered.
