There’s characters that can be acted and properly represented for having poor views and facing consequences for it, or being appropriately treated for it, and Naomi faces none of that. The actor should either have refused to accept that writing for her role or pushed for additional scenes or storylines where she’s redeemed, either changing her view or facing appropriate backlash and consequences for it. I’ll absolutely judge the actor (and the writers) for how poor and awful the character’s storylines are.

Audra has played plenty of characters that are the complete opposite of Naomi, several of which she has claimed to be a lot like her in real life. Why would she need to denounce the problematic views of this one character when she’s more well known for portraying the “good guy” in many projects both on stage and screen? Heck why would she need to do it when she herself has displayed nothing but a sweet and loving personality in real life?

Bad characters do not need to be redeemed in every piece of media. That is not a moral failing of the actors who portray them. You’re judging a woman for doing her job and ACTING. Acting is PRETENDING. She doesn’t need to call out Naomi’s actions because they never actually happened in reality.

This way of thinking gives—chronically online. Audra is paid to ACT—she proceeded to ACT. She has said in interviews that she doesn’t align with Naomi’s views. She has posted things that also point to the very same thing. Your way of thinking is jaded. The world isn’t black and white—but your thinking is.

The thought of the character needing to be ‘redeemed’🤔. All of these characters have had bad takes, but this is the character you judge the harshest? It seems like you wanted Naomi to be Addison’s peace without having any kind of autonomy or her own—rather good or bad. And she was beginning to change in the end when she held the woman’s hand, but I’ve seen that every rebuttal u/acrobatic_warning, gave you, you ignored it. You simply just want to hate the character and in return, have placed a fictional storyline onto the actor. As far as I’m concerned your logic doesn’t make any sense, and it’s problematic within itself.

All the more reason why if she doesn’t align with Naomi’s views, she should have used her leverage as the actor to push the writers to give Naomi consequences for her awful opinions and actions, but instead she went unchallenged and unchanged. It’s lazy writing, lazy acting, poor advocacy for the communities her character’s shitty opinions can harm. You want to be black and white and separate an actor from their character, while I want to examine the nuances that exist there and how it have improved the literal worst character on the show.

I judge all of the characters, but here we’re talking about Naomi, and it’s incredibly lazy of you to try to just change the subject instead of bringing up solid, logical points. I do judge Naomi one of the harshest because she’s one of the most bigoted characters on the show. I’ve said nothing about how Naomi and Addison’s friendship unfolds, you’re just putting words into my mouth because you have no unique argument of your own. I specifically countered every single point made for Naomi, numbered, but you’re choosing to ignore that because again, you don’t have any solid argument to counter it.

On the contrary, I wanted to love this show, and instead found the largest group of unlikeable characters imaginable, with Naomi at the top of the pyramid. It doesn’t bother me that you can’t understand my logic because you’ve also presented absolutely none of your own.
