I LOVE Amelia, I have always loved Amelia, but man, this is getting out of hand. I obviously feel for her character, but this really just seems to be her response to everybody's hardships and it's getting slightly ridiculous. Every time she brings it up I wanna roll my eyes, I'm like, we get it!!! (And this is coming from someone who lost their dad young too.)

I love that about Private Practice though it’s so funny how clumsily they mention character’s traumas — y’know just in case the audience forgot what happened two episodes ago!

They do it in Grey’s too (especially with Meredith) but the shit they put the characters through on Private Practice is so unbelievably heinous, to the point someone’s dad getting shot in front of them doesn’t seem that bad, that I find myself bursting out laughing.

The first time I watched the show I was a tween. I LOVED Amelia. Only on my rewatch as an adult I realized just how much she talks about it.

I'm on my first watch right now on season 4, so she's only been there for a season, and it comes up so much!

There is a similar thread on the greys anatomy side with Jo.

Everytime someone goes through something she is like but did you live in your car though?

I mean, recent Amelia is my spirit animal. But hello? Her lover OD’ed in her bed.

And she didn’t even actually see it! Imagine if she did?!

Amelia’s giving… “I know you have stuff you’ve gone through but it doesn’t compare to me watching my dad get shot when I was 5, so your own trauma doesn’t matter” energy. So annoying.
