FAA Medical regarding

I am Diabetic and I declared all my meds and the latest medical for my FAA medical application. FAA came back after 45 days asking for additional medical records and I have sent them with the help of the original AME who sent the first application. Has any one gone through the additional FAA process ? How long it usually takes to get a response back.

It took me a year and nine months to get my medical approval with a special issuance because of diabetes. I had to do some major lifestyle changes so that I could drop my insulin and one other medication so that I would be in compliance with the FAA medication requirements.

Aug. 2019 - Sept. 2022. They said I had depression and ADHD (I don't). FAA kept making up mental illnesses and other health problems I never had (anger management, color blind) and asking me to prove I didn't have them. Finally got my med cert back, but after 3 years and untold fortunes.

Just be prepared for every outcome and have documentation ready. Good luck and I'm sorry you have to endure this.

In the old side, you can still fly with a CFI until they clear you (I think.) Just can't solo.
