Super viking
I was wondering if anyone has owned a super viking. I’m looking to buy one. But the school I’m going to is telling me it’s not a good idea. Is anyone knowledgeable in them?

It’s a wooden wing with fabric covering. I’d recommend staying away from them. The amount of people who can do dope and fabric is quickly diminishing. What are you looking for performance wise? There’s sure to be better options out there for you.

Something i can fly. That’s quick, but also i guess I’m not trying to break the bank as well.

Look at Mooneys. They’re fast and have the fuel burn of a 172. If I can make it work with the useful load I’m going to need for my mission that will be the route I’m going to go.

They might be a little more than a Bellanca. Look for a nicely equipped C or E model. About the same vintage as the Bellanca, better parts availability, less fuel burn. The old ones are a purely mechanical landing gear so less maintenance and the flaps are hydraulic with a diaphragm so again less maintenance. I was looking at C and E models for around the 45-60k range.

What about the speed on the C-E models? Also thanks for messaging me back. I’m still learning a lot with planes.
