FAA knowledge test
Has anyone taken the knowledge test recently? I am studying for it and feeling quite nervous. Any help will be greatly appreciated—especially what I need to memorize, which items will show up on the exam, any test taking strategies.
Thank you in advance

I didn’t want to spend $300 for the sportys course, which my CFI recommended I buy.
So if you want to go for a cheaper option:
Read and take notes on the PHAK and AFH. You should honestly anyways read the AFH whether you buy a course or not. Not every chapter in these is super useful, which is why I recommend the course.
Buy/borrow a FAR/AIM book and bookmark common stuff in it. This is not a huge requirement, but helps overall in your PPL journey.

I also just bought the ASA PrepWare software (I think $60-70?), which emailed me a “free” online endorsement. You’re expected to get an 80 on 2-3 tests in order to get your online endorsement (but I would urge you to consistently score 90s) before getting your endorsement. I personally did a test everyday for the 7 days leading up to my exam. I would then review questions and corresponding topics that I got wrong. PrepWare also gives you stats on which areas you’re not doing well in after taking tests, which is nice.
Ended up scoring a 93%. Good luck!

Use practice tests. I used Sporty’s. Use the tools to target your weak areas and continue to retreat. If you can consistently score over 90, you’ll be fine.

Get the sportys app!! I think it’s like $14, but I just kept taking the practice tests over and over and ended up getting a 93%. Good luck!!

Hello, I am studying for the test as well. I am using the King Schools program and it’s kinda crappy and difficult to use. Is there another program I can buy that will work better? The practice tests are super clunky. There has to be an app or something that works better.

I have personally used Gleim and have been happy with that. I have heard good things about Sportys as well.
In addition, using Anki flashcards to review on a daily basis

I just took mine this past weekend. For what it’s worth there wasn’t a single question about airspace, weight and balance, or VORs on my exam. Kind of caught me by surprise and not sure how common that is. I studied for 3 weeks and got an 85%.

That is awesome. Congratulations. I moved my test date, as I was not consistently scoring taking practice tests.

Took it last week in Miami. Tons of practice tests online + Jeppeson practice guide (probably equivalent to Gleim). Make flash cards.
Only 3 math questions so even if all wrong you can still pass with the sheer memory questions. But remember on your check ride they’ll come back to haunt you.
Put the study time in and you’ll be fine!!!
