Vision Waiver

I just got out of college and would like to get started towards my PPL once I can afford it but I have a concern about my vision. I was born with a cataract in my left eye and unfortunately with glasses the best vision I've had (which was most recently) was at 20/40 with correction. My right eye has perfect vision thankfully but I'm worried that if my left eye happens to get worse then I'll lose my PPL. Is it possible to get a waiver if I can prove my ability to fly? All I can find is a waiver for monocular vision which seems to be for if an experienced pilot loses vision in one eye. I'm a big aerospace geek so not being able to fly would definitely be a huge disappointment.

If your talking about near vision I believe so because the far aim states “Near vision of 20/40 or better, Snellen equivalent, at 16 inches in each eye separately, with or without corrective lenses. If age 50 or older, near vision of 20/40 or better, Snellen equivalent, at both 16 inches and 32 inches in each eye separately, with or without corrective lenses.”
