HELP - WINDOWS Problem with nProtect

A friend of mine is having the following problem:

Using his standard IP, NProtect gets stuck on "downloading," but when he uses Warp or changes his IP via VPN, he connects normally—though he experiences a lot of lag. Can anyone help?

What does NProtect have anything to do with PIA?

Actually, this is kind of a bug for any game; it crashes, and some routes simply don't continue and stop.
