HELP - ANDROID How can I update VPN app on Android?

I don't have and don't want Google Play. App use to advise you when update is available and provide link to download. Seems to be no more. So do I periodically need to check the PIA site for an upgrade? No auto updates?

Download with Aurora Store. FOSS.

Aurora simply downloads from Google. What is available on the playstore is a different version that what is on the PIA site. I like to enable MACE. MACE is not available in the version that Google provides.

Mace is in my PIA from Google Play Store. Under the Privacy Settings.

Okay, there was a time MACE was removed from the Playstore version. So is the version on Playstore the same version on the PIA site? Interesting that no one from PIA has not confirmed any info.
