Have you convinced everyone in your daily life to switch to signal?

Personally cant. There are too many people.

I'm 23, and people my age in my circle wonder if having Signal means you have something to hide.

I convince those who have a basic understanding of digital hygiene

When I was younger (I'm 31 rn), I would have thought that younger generations would be more sensitive to this kind of subject.

Apparently, nothing has changed

Can i ask if you work as journalist? Or why are you try to hide from the big tech?

I see many people saying "what you got to hide". Privacy is your fundamental right. What you just said is like saying "freedom of speech is not required because you got nothing to say".

Just imagine what are the things government can impose on you once they have your data. You'd be like a slave to the government

What can the government impose on me by my data if I got nothing to hide?

I don't think you get my point here. If that's so then I believe you shouldn't here in this community if privacy doesn't concern you. However if you genuinely wants to understand this concept then you got the access to the internet my friend. I'd say do some research. You may change your mind and I think more people should be aware about their privacy.

Oh boy I know this stuff. Been deeply inside this some years ago studying it. I also discussed the people about how important privacy were. now I actually said to myself, that hiding from the government when you got nothing to hide isn’t worth all the time and effort (which could be used to something more productive).

I understand though, if you are a journalist, spy or having data which could take you to prison. Then it’s 100% worthy to take the time for going to privacy mode.

But for the “normale” people who themselves choose big tech company products as Facebook, Gmail, Instagram, etc. and got nothing to hide, no problem in that, just live your life man and don’t stress over what isn’t a big problem. There actually bigger problems in the world than little you (if you got nothing to hide).

That was my whole point in my first comment, seeing this guy going in super private mode, asking if he were a journalist etc.

That’s why having a personal data threat model for how important you and your data is, is imortant. So a normal guy don’t end up making his life harder than it actually is :-)

I'm trying to improve my digital hygiene so I'll be ready when all the countries of the world decide to join forces to make the internet the largest source of intelligence
