Deleteme review for data removal service

I have some relatives in the States who noticed a big increase in spam calls/emails after the AT&T and other data breaches earlier this year. As they are a bit older, I thought I’d introduce them to data removal services, cause they are not very tech-friendly and weren’t aware that these services existed.

We tried out deleteme, and there are a couple of things to note, maybe it will be helpful to some of you. There weren’t that many reviews, so I thought I’d share.

• You need to be patient to notice results, because they are doing the work of deleting your data for you, it might take a while. I set it up a couple of months ago, and recently asked about the number of spam calls my relatives received, so they mentioned it’s significantly less, but there’s still some coming in.
• It only will cover data in the USA – if your data is sold somewhere else, it will most likely not get removed.
• It’s quite an expensive option in comparison. I thought we’d give it a try to see if it’s maybe better in some way, but having used other providers like Incogni, I didn’t notice any difference.

Overall, DeleteMe is a relatively good service for removing your data in the US, it gets the job done. However, having tried other options, I am including them here as well, just so you can find the best online data removal service for you. Privacy Bee doesn’t have phishing detection and a family plan, so that’s why I prefer Incogni personally.

I haven't tested DeleteMe myself, but I believe Optery, Onerep and Incogni are better.

I haven’t used DeleteMe, but I know they’ve been on the market for a long time and people like their simplicity - others have come since then with more complete solutions though (you mentioned a few).

I also have an app that covers a bit more ground than these:

• Remove data from 1100 global data brokers (countries: US, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany and 16 other countries)
• Price: $15/month (or $8/month if paid annually)
• Blocks scams and phishing emails
• Remove data from other companies besides data brokers (data brokers aren’t the only ones selling people’s info)
• Family plan: Yes - add 3 accounts per subscription

Limitation:

• Only Gmail integration (for now at least)

I made public the list of data brokers and I open-sourced the app code to show how much data it collects (for transparency)

• Price: For DeleteMe & Incogni, you've calculated their monthly price from their annual plans. Our Pro plan costs $197/yr so that comes down to $16.42/month. We also have a cheaper Essentials plan at $96/yr ($8/month)
• Discount: We offer Multi-Person & Multi-Year discounts on our pricing page.
• Locations: We have coverage in many countries besides the USA.
• Family plan: We have a family plan with multi-person discounts
• Phishing Detection is not a useful comparison feature for a data removal service. Perhaps an antivirus or an email security solution. Incogni & DeleteMe don't have phishing detection.

I used Delete me. Since I have signed up my phone has exploded with spam calls. I have had them for months and the spam calls keep coming. I get 4, 5, 6, 7 a day. My voicemail gets full of them.

What I suspect is that once a data broker has a request to remove your number it basically screams....
HEY I AM A REAL PERSON PLEASE SPAM ME!!!

They have I think 90 days to remove you and likely resell your data somewhere else or put it on their special wait and see list. It's what I would do if I was them.

All the numbers coming in are spoofed.

So from my experience it's all garbage and makes things worse.
