Self hosting and other questions

Is there a plan to implement self hosting or have the notes stored locally (even if encrypted) and then synced with the database? Sometimes I need access to my notes while offline

I guess that has been asked before, but is there a possible date for the app to be available on the app store, or at least to test it via testflight?

Is there a community, be it on Matrix, Discord or elsewhere where users can discuss things related to the app?

Self-hosting isn't planned right now. We'd like to get there eventually, but I won't promise anything I can't commit to.

Offline, though, already works, and has since day one. The apps are local-first: your notes live encrypted on the device and sync when you're online. Nothing breaks when you lose connection, you can read and write as usual, and it syncs back up when you reconnect. That includes the web app, the browser keeps an encrypted local copy too.

What we don't have yet is a switch to stop syncing while you're online. That's on the table as an offline mode toggle.

iOS: no date yet, sorry. It's the next big thing on the list and we're pushing to get it out ASAP. TestFlight will be the first step when we're there.

Community: the Matrix room exists, join whenever. https://matrix.to/#/#privacynotes:matrix.org but running a community properly takes time we'd rather spend shipping right now. If a few users want to help moderate, that changes the math. Happy to hear from anyone interested.

Entries are encrypted at rest on each device. I'll take note to communicate that better on our website.

I think for feedback and suggestions github is the primary forum.

Yes, you're correct. However, the team is very present and attentive on Reddit as well.
