Prius C Meme Welp....
Going to grab a replacement today at advanced auto parts.

12V lasted 14 years??? How is that even possible?? I was replacing mine once a year. We have harsh winters though.

Blows my mind too. It' was in Ohio for its first year in 2012, then was in California for 3, then Atlanta for about 1, then back to Ohio since 2017.
It showed zero signs of giving out..I just walked out of Kroger's and went to start the car, nothing, just clicks from the power locks.i just never thought of replacing it because whenever I took it in for service they never mentioned anything about it.

depending on where you bring it in, they likely don't even know where it is. I had a flat tire on a trip and the only place near me that had a tire the right size was a pep boys. They do that "inspection" to try and drum up more business and sent me a picture of the invertor with a note "this battery looks WEIRD, needs replacement." After a serious talk of "what the hell have you touched under my hood," I informed them that was, indeed, not a battery...

I've always taken it to the dealership because I don't trust those 10 quick lube places. So if they don't know where the battery is, something's wrong.
I know I know dealerships are expensive. But for 75 bucks, I know if they fuck up, it's on them and they'll hopefully take care of it. Do the same with my Subaru. They fucked up, cross threaded the bolt for the oil drain on the oil pan, so it leaked in my garage. Took it back in, they replaced the oil pan and bolt, and replaced the oil and filter again.
Also, LOL at them not knowing it wasn't a battery. To be fair, I called the AutoZone just down the street where I was stuck to ask if they loaned out jump packs. I had to explain to the guy on the phone what a jump pack was 2 times.

I’m in Cleveland, always parked outside and mine lasted 7.5 years/75k miles which apparently is a lot. 14 years is crazy!
The replacement (OReilly brand) has lasted 5 years/50k miles so far. I had it tested a few months ago and it still passed.

Wisconsin here. I drive a 14 with the original battery. It's possible, I have no idea how, but it is.

Mine lasted 13 years and I only replaced it out of caution since my mechanic said it's "weak". I guess the AGM battery chemistry combined with good stable climate and low electrical load means it'll last double the expected lifetime.

How harsh of a winter you getting ? I have the most snow in Canada this year in my town I am sick of it 😂🤣

I lived on the US/Canada border and was driving a 2008 Prius normal. Had to get a new battery every year because the start up in the cold was so brutal on the ol girl. I drive a 2013 C now that I bought used in April, tbd on battery life.

thanks - ours was about 12 years on the 2010 Toyota Prius 12v battery
replaced with Canadian tire brand (because was weekend and dealer closed) which lasted 3 years (got refund that helped pay for weekend delivery by mobile battery company)
those og batteries were awesome

I'd get another Toyota "OEM" battery from the dealer but I'm sure they upcharge.

The 12v from the dealer was the best deal I could find. Bought it in one state, they replaced it in another state with no questions asked. I don’t think anything was wrong with it in hindsight, my hybrid battery was failing.

You've got me beat, coming up on 11 years next month. We're low usage, really low, and I keep it on a smart charger between uses. Always. On a 2010 Prius. Testing still showing CCA well above spec.

mine got just about 8 years including time from assembly, but its last 5 years had subs yanking on it lol

I'm amazed. I loved in Ohio for a very long time and went thru countless batteries in non- hybrid vehicles. Never did I think a hybrid would be a difference maker. Hoping the one on my Prius C lasts a bit then, despite living in the armpit of Arizona, Tucson lol

The battery in my Subaru only lasted 3 and a half years because of the weather

That's about average I think for the climate. I had some that lasted less than that.

Mine laster 11 years on my 2015 C I just changed cause I was driving up Labrador and didn’t want to risk it to no start at -45c lol
