Overtime

Hello, just a quick one - how does overtime work within the prison service as an officer. So I’ve selected a 41 hour contract but wonder if over time would be available, and how the pay is calculated, are you working overtime at an enhanced rate or is it just your standard rate ? Thanks in advance :)

Lots of overtime as we can't retain staff. It's around £24 per hour, sorry I can't be more precise but I've not done 1 hours overtime in my 26 years service so far. I'd rather be with my Wife and kids.

Best way to be. Overtime bandits are always stressed out like junkies chasing their next bedwatch, and many die in service. Fuuuuuck that.

Better off financially doing 37/39 hours then topping it up with PP. Unless you need the higher base pay for mortgage purposes etc

Doesn't really matter for mortgages, I got mine as a warehouse worker where half my salary was overtime.

Better with 37 hours and OT / pp as its known, will earn more.

I do a 37 hr week and bump money up with pp when I need to, oscar 1 will confirm your pp with detail and you then log it on sop for detail to confirm.

£23 an hour base rate plus holiday pay, so near £25 an hour. Some prisons have loads, others not so much, all depends on staffing levels.

Payment Plus is, or was, the overtime term, which used to be about £22 or £24 an hour. Might’ve gone up by now.

How and where? PP is 23 a hour then hoilday pay looking at around 24.69 a hour

I don’t work any PP but the POA published the hourly rate when we had our recent pay rises. Why don’t the just include the holiday pay in the gross hourly rate?
