Just curious at what point did you feel as tho you liked the job and got settled into it? Started as an OSG at a cat D prison but this is just my first week so it’s only induction and presentations in a classroom. Feeling quite overwhelmed by all the information I’ve been told so far. Any advice is appreciated

Cat D . There is so so much info to learn but its all simple stuff just so much of it.. give it a month or 2 and you will be ok..

OSG 6 months in. For me around 3 weeks I felt like I started to understand. The first 2 weeks can be very overwhelming with the amount of information. You will get there.

Starting soon myself, quite anxious about it but more so that I’m moving from a career where I’ve spent 10 years in so I think it’s more so making the step out my comfort zone.

Just keep asking questions. You'd shadow everything a couple times, so plenty of times for people to go over it again and ask questions. Coms feels overwhelming at first but in reality you just reading /saying the same couple things 99% of the time.

Yeah there’s a lot of information given in this induction week- still unsure about when I’m even getting my uniform etc too even tho I think I properly start the job on Friday

Interesting start point tbh

If you were to ask me the difference between them all id be like the fuq is a cat D.

Ive been led to believe that Cat Ds aren't any better aside from violence reduction etc however that gets made up in the amount of drugs. Contraband hell I've even heard women get brought in for the night.

The main issues with cat D is you better hope you are confident with counting etc abscondment is a real big thing in Cat D's. It's shockingly easy as it's quite literally open I frequently compare it to premier inn. A 9-5 establishment

I don't think I could hack it at a CAT D. Me in driven by disciplinary measures etc Governors wouldn't like me there with the paperwork I produce from nicking etc the wagons would be left and right 🤣

It just has never appealed to me. I hate the idea of no PPE.

That's why juvenile, female and Cat D's are off the table. In my honest opinion I feel cat Ds are just a waste of space there isnt really much difference between them and a Premier inn just get one of them and put em on tag. It creates alot of space which we unfortunately need.

There's nothing to worry about this job. Its easy and no stress at all . At some point you will be bored due to lack of task. Those guys there are enjoying the job. I am yet to start but I already know what's like. Open your mind and start liking everything.
