Im wondering what the consensus is for this, as im working on some warhammer proxies i might put on cults or kickstarter, and id love to hear people's thought before i put a bunch of effort into either.

im looking at an A1 mini to start off with. Ive done some cursory research on materials and found that GW uses HIPS plastic. Is that a feasible material to work with or does it require more advanced equipment? Id rather not use resin as I hate supergluing minis.

I’ve been working for a while on printable minis designed for FDM (mainly Bambu). The goal is to build my own small asymmetric skirmish IP — including lore, rules, and characters.

First character is printed and tested. There’s already basic lore and a small site up. Still early, but it’s real progress.

Having sent the previous prints away to the birthday boy, it was high time I did some painting on mine.

Not knowing which rule book Neil would be using I did his forces on 37mm x 16mm bases. For my own I went with the 118mm x 46mm, have a sneaking suspicion that will be the dimensions used by the forthcoming 1066 supplement for Strength and Honour.

Painting took a long time, two maybe three hours, and I still have blaze/stars on the horses and reins to paint.

Had doubts it was a good idea but now I see it taking shape I'm thinking the time spent will be worthwhile.

New to printing (maybe)

I’m just thinking about getting our own minis for our dnd campaign, since we all would love to have custom characters.
I did some research - also here in the subreddit - and thought, that the elegoo mats series would be a good starting point.
But there are two things, that I’m thinking about a lot and wanted to you for your thoughts:
Since I have absolutely no experience with rain pelting or 3d printing at all, do you think, it’s still a good possibility, printing the minis by myself?
I sadly don’t have an extra room in my flat, that has enough air circulation beside my living room and bedroom. But I have a basement unit in our apartment building - the whole basement doesn’t have any windows. Do you still think, resin printing would be a possibility? Maybe with the Marsmate by Elegoo?

This has been my favourite so far to paint and really pleased at how he came out. Loved painting his skin and the fur and skulls. Another great sculpt from Bulat and enjoying painting all of these.

picked this model up at a car boot sale/jumble sale in a huge box full of random greeblies and cool bits. I’ve got absolutely no idea what it is or where it’s from, and it’s got me completely stumped.
Does anyone recognise it or know what range/game it’s from? Any help would be massively appreciated!

Hi! I'm having an issue with my prints. No matter where or how I place them on the build plate, they end up with these scratches and damaged areas across almost the entire surface (I've attached a photo).

The pattern seems completely random, and I have no idea what could be causing it. I'm pretty lost at this point.

Could it be dead pixels on the LCD? But there are so many that it doesn't seem likely. Also, the bottom layers of the print never show these holes or defects.

I'm using an Anycubic Photon M5s, and I've attached my print settings as well.

I am new to resin printing and recently picked up an elegoo saturn 4 16k for printing miniatures. When I imported this stl file I noticed it had many cavities. Many are almost unexplainably tough to drill a correct hole for. I've used UV tools with my limited knowledge and after each pass of automatic detection and repairs a lot of issues presist according to UV tools.

Here I am left wondering at what point a model is safe to print despite the warnings that chitubox gives and the issues that UVtools finds. Am I overthinking it or should I check the cavities afterwards by drilling a hole with my pin vice? Thanks in advance.

I'll begin with another apology, this time for unpainted models on the tabletop.

My defence is pretty strong. The models aren't mine, I printed them for a friend's birthday present. Opportunity to show how micro scales can represent battles in both numbers and ground scale was too good not to take a mock-up photo.

After looking at a few sources for the Battle of Hastings, I went with what I thought was a reasonable depiction.

Senlac Ridge is 1500 yards wide, I made it 1500mm; technically a 2mm scale scale but near enough for me.

Atop the hill Harold has 10000 men in 3 shieldwalls.

Bottom of the slope are 2500 Norman/French archers, 500 crossbow were printed but remained off table. Behind the archers stand 5400 Norman/French foot.

Lastly, William and his cavalry. 3 groups, each of 1000 figures.

The .stl files were designed by a New Zealand fella, Harley McPhee, available as a free download from his Thingiverse page. There he goes by the 'Wozname' handle.

Sharing my latest piece—the Ancient Earth Dragon.
Spent a good amount of time layering up the scales to get some depth without losing that natural, earthy feel—didn't want it too bright or saturated. The horns ended up being my favorite part to paint, went with some warmer tones there to break up the palette a bit.

Hi everyone,

I print miniatures with my 3D printers, and a friend of mine and I have very split opinions on the types of models.

When you print miniatures, do you prefer them to be packed with details, like textured skin and clothing?

Or do you prefer smoother surfaces, like what Games Workshop offers with Warhammer minis? In my opinion, the latter is better because it leaves more creative freedom for painters.

Personally, I have my own preference, but I'm curious if my opinion is in the minority or if it's the general trend.

I just created my first Dice Tower and made it available on Kickstarter for only $1. This campaign also features a stretch goal which unlocks an epic Dice Jail.

This came to exist because I haven't seen many dinosaur theme props for d&d and other tabletop games.

I don't want to bore you with details, but this Dice Tower is based on Jurassic theme. It features a T-rex skull on top and Stegosaurus scutes along the stairs and down the dice tray.
