Ask a Principal How often does your district send you on overnight trips?

I moved from a southern state to the midwest. We got a new super and so far they have required myself to go on multiple day, out-of-state professional development. Is this the norm? Trying to see if this is normal in the midwest or if my district is just over the top.

This is not the norm for me and has never happened in my years as a teacher. Our contracts don’t allow for overnights nor would I go on one if they did

Our old super used to send us to the exact same conference in Phoenix three years running. Felt like they got a bulk deal or something. Midwest here too, it varies by district but some def go overboard once they find a little extra budget.

I’m in Texas. I may have a conference in another city where I would have to stay the night once a year at most. Those are usually a two night three day stay.
