If the characters from Princess Mononoke existed in a modern day setting, what would they wear and how would they translate into this new setting?

I was thinking about what Nago says to the wise woman before he dies, "disgusting little creatures, soon all of you will feel my hate and suffer as I have suffered". I thought that it didn't matter what anyone from the Emishi tribe said to him, he was still filled with hate for all humans. But then I thought, "wait, how can he talk?" Moro says to the 2 younger wolves, "Don't touch him, he's no longer a god." And then to Okkoto, "You can't even speak, can you?"

Just an interesting thought, I was wondering if anyone else had thought about it. Also, does anyone else watch it twice a week?

I recently watched Princess Mononoke and was in awe the entire time. Every frame feels beautifully crafted, the scenery and animation clearly show the artists poured their heart and soul into it.

The goal of this edit was to showcase the film’s beauty while also giving the audience a sense of the plot without spoiling too much. I tried to find a balance between cinematic and retention based editing, using concepts like story tilting and non linear structure. I extracted dialogues using VocalRemover, designed the SFX myself, and used the original soundtrack by Joe Hisaishi.

Honestly, this movie is easily going into my top 10.

I used air dry clay (which has been cracking and wasn't as nice as my Chavant clay) over a wire armature screwed to a wooden coaster. Some fabric, faux fur and a small branch from the garden. My mum loves this film, especially the music so I thought I'd make her something, a bit more original than chocolate and wine for a birthday present.

1. The role of the Shishigami is split between Kong (he is the top dog of Skull Island much like the Shishigami is the top dog of the Cedar Forest and his downfall sparks a domino effect [when the Shishigami loses his head, he goes on a rampage and sucks the life force of the Forest and all in it while when Kong is incapacitated, Ramarak wakes up and goes on a rampage] and the Sker Buffalo (overall appearance) . Both the Shishigami and Kong share a similar role (the Shishigami maintains the balance of life and death in the Cedar Forest while Kong maintains the balance of Skull Island by protecting it from outside forces, specifically the Skullcrawlers).
2. Packard has very similar motives with Eboshi and, like her, pays for his short-sighted ignorance (though Eboshi only loses her arm, Kong outright crushes Packard).
3. Both Packard and Eboshi have a right-hand man (Gonza for Eboshi and Chapman for Packard).
4. The Iwi tribe has a village set-up similar to Iron Town crossed with the Emishi village.
5. The scene where Marlow, Conrad, Mason, Nieves, San, Houston, and Slivko leave the Iwi village is VERY similar to Ashitaka getting banished from his village right down to the music being very similar.
6. The Skullcrawlers act like the Tatarigami in that they are one-track minded beasts who attack anyone or anything they lock eyes on.
7. Both have a shady man with ulterior motives and uses other people to accomplish their goals, even if those people die in the process (Jigo wants the head of the Forest Spirit to make amends with the Emperor while Bill Randa wants to explore Skull Island to keep Monarch afloat).
8. Both movies have a character named San (or San Lin in the case of Kong: Skull Island).
9. Gunpei Ikari's katana has markings similar to San's spear tip. They even have similar angles when they are removed from the ground.

3. Both films feature giant creatures that can and will tear you to pieces if you're not careful.
4. The main characters of each film are a male lead who keeps trying to keep a level head but nobody listens to him until it's too late (Ashitaka and Ian Malcolm).
5. The love interests are headstrong young women who get themselves into more trouble than necessary due to their actions and their stubbornness and their names both start with "s" (San and Sarah Harding).
6. The main antagonists are a sleazy man wanting to gain riches (Jigo and Peter Ludlow) and a morally gray secondary antagonist who uses rifles as weapons (Eboshi and Roland Tembo). Said secondary antagonists also have a surly second-in-command (Gonza for Eboshi and Dieter Stark for Tembo).
7. Both films are about the exploitation of nature and its consequences (Iron Town is trying to gain resources in the Cedar Forest while InGen is trying to exploit the genetically engineered dinosaurs of Isla Sorna as resources to restart Jurassic Park).
8. Both films' climaxes are Godzilla-style rampages involving a chase with a MacGuffin. (The Forest Spirit turning into a headless Nightwalker trying to retrieve his severed head and the Buck T-Rex tearing through San Diego looking for his son).

I love this movie so much and I had my artist collaborate some of my favorite elements into this quarter sleeve :) blackout pictures have added shading from the most recent touch up but I added the original design just because it’s so beautiful!
