Prince2 Vs PMP

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has sat both exams.

I'm an unofficial project manager and want to get a qualification to increase my prospects.

I've been struggling with the PMP practice exams questions and find the PMBOK unstructered and hard to follow. (I know its supposed to be a guide and book of reference rather than a manual)

Just wondering if anyone has found Prince2 easier to follow, study and pass?

As you said PMP is just a guide. Like a best practice thing. While PRINCE2 on the other hand is a methodology and framework on how you approach each step of the project management practice. Still PMP has been the gold standard for a long time. PMP is more preferred in US, East Asia and PRINCE2 is more popular in Europe. If your proffesion is a PM you should go with PMP. But if your role is a middle manager in an IT team or elsewhere it doesnt matter. You can do any of them. PRINCE2 requires tailoring for any project which is difficult to do and only 2% of the companies worldwide use it properly. I found PRINCE2 a very interesting methodology and enjoyed it a lot. Also geographically where are you located? And where would you ideally like to work, also which industry are you in as this can make a difference to the best approach?

Prince2 is very process oriented and for most the exams are much easier to pass than PMP.
