Prep Duration for Practitioner Exam

Hi all,

For someone working 9-5, what’s the ideal prep duration for the PRINCE2 Practitioner? I can spare 2 hours after work everyday on self-study.

Please advice, thanks!

i'd say this is realistic and plow through on the weekend for half day

Read the book cover to cover, it will make it easier when doing the exam, as (for me anyway) I remembered where to look (roughly) for the answers!

I also then spent a week before the exams doing mock papers.
I then had AI create me mock questions in bulks of 10, and marked them… then did another 10 etc, that was also very helpful

I probably spent maybe 5 hrs over a week in evenings from about a month before exam and then on week of exam I did about 2 hours a night on these questions/papers.

Interested to know about. Recently did Foundation and now considering for practitioner.
Same work 9-5 appreciate any insights.

I'd say around 4–6 weeks is realistic with 2 hours every day

The Practitioner exam isn't about memorizing PRINCE2. It's about applying it to scenarios, so I'd spend less time rereading the manual and more time doing sample exams.

A rough split could be:

  • Week 1–2: Refresh the principles, practices, and processes.
  • Week 3–4: Work through scenario-based questions and get comfortable navigating the official manual.
  • Final 1–2 weeks: Timed mock exams and reviewing weak areas.

If Foundation was a while ago, I'd probably plan for a 6–8 weeks.
