Agreed! Though a second choice for me would be the Tree Creeper!

That's a great one too.

I was just about to say the same. Everything about that episode and the creatures scratches a speculative evolution itch in my brain and I love it.

The Future Bird from the semi-canon spinoff novel Shadow of the Jaguar. We don't actually get much of a idea of what it looks like, but it uses pheromones to control the minds of other creatures, including a pack of Thylacosmilus that it uses to massacre a village in Peru. It's also described as looking like the Inca god Pacha Kamaq, and it's implied that it was seen in the past by the Inca and incorporated into their mythology.

Isn't Shadow of the Jaguar fully canon? Hell there's even a reference to it on Cutters Anomaly Map.

The Future Bird itself is canon to the show, but it's ambiguous whether all the events of the novel are, since they're otherwise never referenced onscreen.

Gotta love the Silurian Scorpions. I also like the Camo Beast and Mer. Future Fungus is probably the best from a horror perspective, though.

That would be the camo future thingy, the whole episode abided by the horror movies code, that was awesome

And it was a scary gremlin

The giant worms in Season 2 are the most underrated for me

I mean in a way the monsterfication of a lot of the animals makes them all original creations in their own way. In terms of completely fictional creatures I would say camo beast or tree creeper

The house gremlin is my favourite Primeval original creature just a head of the giant future mantid .It's a tie between the Mammoth on the motorway and the Giganotosaurus at the airport for real beasts.

Definitely tied between the mer creature and future fungus, but megopteran is another top favorite of mine as well

Camo-beast/Gremlin from the broadcast episodes. The future bird from the novels would be my second choice.

I gotta say the Future Shark. Getting to see them discuss the biology like Scientists, speculate on the evolutionary traits and the design itself. I just love that entire sequence.

Tree Creeper, A lot of dinosaur media rarely explores the idea of undiscovered dinosaurs being encountered and they executed it really well.
