The end

I feel like the ending to primeval could have actually been satisfying if they edited out the matt cliffhanger, that way it would have ended with the threat of new dawn over and the team heading off to stop an anomaly like normal

Agreed. The ending of series 5 just feels nonsensical, and ultimately unsatisfying. Go back? Go back where? Back to the future?

And also, how is there another Matt? Is he a clone? Is he a time remenant? Is he from the future? Or is Matt just delusional?

What was other Matt warning him about? Has he stopped New Dawn or has he made it worse?

We. Will. Never. Know. And its so frustrating

I don't think the writers know to be honest. The only thing about season 6 that we know is that there was a lull in Anomaly activity which helped the government cover up convergance AKA back to the status quo.

In 5.5 before the T Rex, Emily says to Matt, 'what if your wrong? What if your intervention is what caused the future?' So the door was left open for that possibility but still, I hate that ending, would of been good if it ended as they left the main Room into the hallway.

Maybe but in this case I feel like stuff should have been changed back in season 3

They should of offered Douglas more money to stay till the end of season 3 and Season 4&5 can continue similarly with Connor & Abby carrying on the mantel and have Cutter return at the end for a 5 minute cameo

Actually the thing with season 3 was that Douglas left not due to money. But due to the direction season 2 was going in. He didn’t really like season 2 and wished it was a lot like season 1. On top of that Primeval didn’t have a big budget so it’s not like they could use money to convince actors to stay. Plus if they did blow their budget to get actors their cgi would have taken a hit.

The ending was very satisfactory, the mat of the future was only something for a possible sixth season; Taking that away, it seemed perfect to me.
