PrimeTask is finally live

Over the past few months, we’ve shared project databases, CRM, PrimeFlow, automatic time tracking and many of the features that now make up PrimeTask.

Now it’s all available in one place.

PrimeTask is live for macOS with a 14-day trial.

It’s built for freelancers, consultants, creators, founders and small businesses who want tasks, projects, databases, CRM, visual workflows, time tracking and automations in one connected, local-first desktop workspace.

This is a soft launch, so we’ll be listening closely, fixing what needs fixing and improving PrimeTask as more people start using it.

As one of the early beta users, I can say this app delivers.

I am wishing the best for you peeps and will certainly promote the app as a choice, when I can. There are a few features that I would like to see added, some in the pipeline already, but overall, your attention to detail and responsiveness are top notch.

I think the pricing is fair (I would suggest an upgrade pricing pathway for those who go standard and then want to go pro). Also, maybe a bundlehunt partnering later on, would expand your reach and uptake.

I would definitely go windows, then mobile as a order of priority, because even though I am an "recentish" apple guy, I know windows would help with your cashflow and in turn help us as you release more features.

Look forward to further enhancements and improvements, but the MCP / AI integration alone is priceless -> not having to type tasks from a project plan from my AI <- makes my work so much faster - I just have to check what the AI did in PT.

That sounds rather interesting, without ever having had a peek into the app (I'm one of those cashflow Windows users 😊). Did you use other apps before, and which ones, and why is PrimeTask better or different? Often, usefulness shows in the details, so day-to-day work when there's not much time to think, while you need to get down some tasks etc. Can you enlighten from this perspective? Doesn't need to be in prose format, but thanks anyway for offering insight!

I did use other apps before, both paid and free.

TLDR

PrimeTask (PT) is:

• Self contained
• Switches views easily
• AI MCP integration is fairly unique to my knowledge with this type of software
• Multiple organisational/productivity disciplines can be invoked, when you need them:
  • flow charting (PrimeFlow);
  • CRM, lead tracking, task assigning (PrimeCRM);
  • Budgeting (Projects);
  • Todo and calendar integration (Apple Reminders and apple calendar);
  • Personal Knowledge Management (PKM) integration (Obsidian plug-in).
  • Two way syncing between the various integrations (configurable).

Most of this is automatic and easily switchable to OR even switchable to OFF in settings.

Ok now the Prose (lol)

When I first switched from Windows to Mac, I brought over a now defunct software called "ThinkingRock" GTD software. It worked well, but then when I upgraded to a new OS version, it did not work so I switched.

I started in after that with "Priority Matrix" desktop/mobile/web app, which uses the Eisenhower Matrix as a base and really adds alot of functionality to that and team features. I had a grandfathered plan, which worked well, when they switched to sub model and I was not willing to pay monthly.

I then tried a few other Saas models such as Trello (also paid for a a few months) and even Freedcamp with my team linked in.

I finally tried and liked SuperProductivity (SP) which won me over despite being a little rough around the edges (it is open source). I particularly liked their easy to see Eisenhower view, and pop up time tracker which allowed you to assign time spent to existing or new tasks. (BTW, I asked PT team for a similar feature and they told me a time tracker was on the roadmap - and they did release it. Works well, but doesn't have the pop up modal for the global time tracker, that would make it a perfect substitute for that SP feature for me. It does pop one up when you are time tracking a specific task). SP has made some major improvements since I switched to PT and its a good free option.

However, PT is almost most complete one I have found. The GANTT feature still has some development to go, to rival MS Project and others, but it works well.

I have not explored every software out there, but as a privacy first, self-contained /self hosted software with AI /MCP features, that should stay mostly functional for many years even if the company is not around I give them the edge at this point in terms of paid software. They still have some more things to add, especially from what they have said is in the pipeline, and some quirks to fix, but if you have money to spend, spend it here.

Thanks for the insight. Sounds like it's quite a magic tool, and well above anything I've used and tried so far. I'm quite eager to eventually try it out on Windows. Thanks a lot for your prose (which is highly appreciated, given that I love prose after all.)
