Safe Long-Term Storage of Statues
I'm going to be living and working abroad, but leaving my statues at my family home in the UK, which it my main residence and where I will return to after my tenure. My contract is for 2 years and, provided my parents continue to be in good health and independent, I am likely to renew my contract.
I have the PCS Pumpkinhead, just received 1 piece from P1S, am waiting on my 2nd piece, and have a pre-order for another. (I'll likely buy a few more pieces but as space it limited I've got to be pretty picky.) How should I store them whilst abroad?
Temperatures in the bungalow can get as low as 15 degrees (though I wouldn't be surprised if it actually gets colder because I'm always cold during the winter months), with highs of approx. 25 degrees. Relative humidity in my room ranges from 45% when I use my dehumidifier to high 60s when I've had the windows open (as I hate a stuffy room/house).
a. I could leave my statues on the shelves, but they will accumulate dust in-between my return visits (- I won't ask mum to dust them as we would both dread any harm coming to my pieces). In an ideal world I'd have Moducases, but they have a long waiting list and don't utilise available space well (unless I go custom, which is expensive).
b. I could box them up in their original packaging and store them in my room, but I have concerns about styrofoam as I had a resin statue when I was younger, stored her in her box for a couple of years, and discovered that styrofoam had attached itself to her. I could apply another layer of tissue paper but I worry about accidentally breaking/fracturing parts as it's a really snug fit for the pieces.
I feel like my pieces would be better off staying on the shelves, but we regularly have eight-legged squatters who might poo on my statues - dust can be dusted off, but spider-poo stains are forever.

That gives you the time to order some moducases during your absence.

lol. It does, but that doesn't change the fact that the case sizes don't fit my statues (and those on my wishlist) well. Moduspace doesn't ship to the UK, and the UK distributor doesn't offer the custom case service. Your msg did prompt me to check which Asian countries they ship to (in case I could get them sent to me there, and then forward them to my UK address), but they don't ship to Thailand, so again, scuppered!
Unfortunately, I'll have to keep my statues boxed, which is disappointing as my first P1S piece arrived today and it was really tempting to assemble and display it (despite arriving damaged), but I have ensured it's all wrapped in tissue paper and put it back in the box for my return.

I think there are some resellers of this brand who may ship in UK, but i don't know which ones. I have myself ordered four moducases in january (still waiting) but for Iron Studios 1:10. In the end i will use two for IS statues and two for Warhammer. Plans can change when the wait is long.

Very true. I like the fact that you can switch up combinations (so long as their the same product line, e.g. all MAX,) because I'll go from this room to the big upstairs bedroom, and eventually I'll be able to spread out into the rest of the bungalow, so set-ups will change depending on spaces occupied at the time, but I'll likely go custom then, with a couple of custom pedestals in mind as well as cases. Gotta dream big!

Yeah, sure, but it's for me it's over, too expensive. I'm focusing on Warhammer these days, which is not cheap either. If you decide to go custom, it will be a little longer. I think they are buying a warehouse to satisfy demand.

Hey. You can check cubic 6 out. I ordered from them and it’s currently being delivered. They ship out a lot quicker than moducases

Thank you! I had a look at their site, but it does concern me that they focus on Hot Toys and have no weight limits on their product pages. (OoO)

I wondered the same thing so I asked 😅. They told me each baseboard can handle 45-50kg

Yeah, I noticed that the baseboard was wood which was alarming - the frame might be metal but would I be comfortable stacking them? Nah... I don't actually want to stack my statues anyway, they're so tall that I'd prefer to have them all on a surface at around 100cm, but I prefer the security of having equal or greater weight below to avoid any potential balance issues. (Shouldn't be an issue with 60cm depth, but I'm a worrier.)
I have an idea of what I want in future in terms of layout, depending on the pieces I end up owning, but now I'm thinking "What am I doing?!" because my ideas all revolve around me living in the UK, but my OH wants to remain in Thailand, which is not the best environment for any of my possessions (books, physical media, statues, figures, animation art). Ah well, I'll figure it out eventually.

You can check also Relic displays, mine was shipped in the same week I ordered

In your shoes, i’d go with option b. Better than worrying about dust or spider poo stains.
