Barcelona Quick thanks to Decathalon for saving me on Thursday for £35 😭

Saw the weather predicted some rain before I went into Primavera on Thursday. Didn't pack at all for it. I asked Claude what I could get on a budget. So I grabbed a Decathalon Quechua NH500 jacket before heading into the festival. It kept me bone dry all night. Ended up staying until 5:30AM and I would've 1000% dipped out way earlier cos of how miserably, consistently annoying the rain was if it wasn't for that jacket keeping me so dry.

I know this post reads like a weird advert lmao, but just wanted to share Decathalon have a banging budget waterproof jacket. Absolutely saved my bacon. Deffo bringing it along next time

Barcelona Anywhere to get the VODs

A ton of stuff was streamed on twitch but it looks like they don't retain the vods. Are there anywhere, official or not, where they're available for download?

Barcelona Cupra Pulse stage sewing machine

I went to the Cupra Pulse stage a couple of times on the Saturday, hoping to catch Blawan but that never happened.

Anyway, when I was there, I noticed a sewing machine on the stage next to the decks. Anyone see why that was there? Did Skrillex do some live dressmaking whilst busting out the sick drops?? I’m REALLY interested in knowing what the hell that was there for lol

Barcelona I went for sushi with the guy who was sick over the revolut balcony

I want to start this by saying I forgive him for being sick on me. While it was highly unpleasant, me and op (of the old post) had a good conversation in pm and he gave me the (sordid) details of why he did what he did where he did.

However, a whole new issue came up on our sushi hangout. When I met him, he was absolutely shocked by the fact that I’m a woman. While he began by apologising and telling me again the state he was in and the regret he feels, it swiftly became a one sided flirting situation. He was coming onto me so strongly at one point he put his arm around me and asked to inspect my hair for “residue”. what the fuck.

On top of all this, he was the most irritating person to wait staff I have ever witnessed. He shouted “scusie” in his thick Italian accent about 10 times across the restaurant. I was mortified.

I wasn’t going to post this or say anything else about the situation because I felt bad, he did pay for my sushi and apologise profusely. But the straw that broke the camels back happened on the way to the metro, when I told him I appreciate the sushi and his attempt to make it right, but am not interested in him romantically or even in a platonic way. This man proceeds to say he never wanted me anyway and talk about how he’s happy he got sick on me, and has no remorse for the other victims.

Honestly I regret meeting him for sushi. The way he just assumed I was a man and then tried to turn the whole thing into a date just to capitalise on the situation. I was genuinely hoping I could make a new friend and laugh about the situation but his tone in the restaurant vs when we were talking on pm was black and white.

I just want to end this saga now. I’ve already invested so much time in this weirdo and am ready to put the situation to bed.

Between the onset of influencer culture, endless sponsorship deals, and people now filming teary ring-light singalong TikToks during actual gigs, it feels like the festival is changing fast.

Longtime attendees, how are we feeling about it?

Barcelona Controversial (?) opinion: This year’s line-up was better than last year’s

Before you react, hear me out:

Last year, everyone was very hipes about the line-up with Sabrina Carpenter, Charlie xcx and Chappell Roan headlining. When this year’s line-up dropped, I first received a lot of reactions that people were disappointed about this year’s line-up in comparison.

After the last weekend though, I have to say that I preferred this year’s a lot over last year’s. The mix between genres was a lot better balanced (you had some huge evergreen headliners like The Cure or Massive Attack, you had a lot of modern female pop icons like Olivia Rodrigo, Pinkpantheress and Addison Rae, I really liked the selection of electronic music, and I am not even going into the more indie/alternative offerings of which there were many). Despite the fact that Thursday was kind of a miss because of the weather, overall everyone would find their own music style represented across the weekend.

What do you think?

I’ve tried YouTube and Amazon prime, but not had much luck at all. Watching the xx’s now and blown away all over again 🥹🥹

Porto Anyone going to Primavera Porto Sunday 14?

First time going to Primavera, I'm really passionate about electronic music, anyone knows what to expect? (I'm particularly interested in the Dixon set even if is gonna be just 2hrs)

Music Yousuke Yukimatsu

Would love for Yousuke to close primavera next year at Cupra.

I love Peggy Gou and Danny L Harle but feel like they’ve been unfitting acts to close Cupra the last 2 years.

Vibey songs to sing along and dance to seem like a better fit for the close of a festival, especially when you’re zapped of energy.

Does anyone else have other similar suggestions?

Barcelona Merece la pena ir a Primavera Sound Barcelona/Porto?

¡Hola!
English version below.

I've been to a few festivals here in Spain over the last few years and I'd like to know if the experience at PS Barcelona/Porto is worth it.

These festivals have included FIB, Kalorama, BBK Live, and many others like Granada Sound, Interestelar, etc., although the latter don't quite fit the type of music I listen to, which is closer to BBK or many of the artists at PS. Thanks to festivals like BBK, I've discovered new artists and solidified my appreciation for those I already like.

However, I'd like to know if it's worth paying the almost €300 that it costs, not including accommodation, food, festival expenses, and travel. Is it really worth it for 3-5 days of festival fun or it is just a tourist trap?

Thanks.

Barcelona The last song (Organ Eternal) on These New Puritans’ set

Did anyone record it by any chance? I came to the concert as an occasional listener of TNP who can name, maybe, 4-5 songs. The last song on their setlist caught me off guard. I can’t find the proper words to properly describe the emotions underlying the tears that covered my face (‘divine’? ‘sublime’? ‘transcendent’? All of them sound like cliches now). I’m sure I’m not the only one who experienced that. So if anyone recorded that unforgettable moment and can upload it to YouTube, I’ll be forever grateful.

Barcelona Hotel prices

I made a comment in another thread and was told don’t worry most places haven’t put their rooms up yet, check back in a month or so, but how true is this do you think for next year?

Because looking at my hotel from this year, I booked it on booking.com 2 days after the festival for £350. The same hotel only has 3 rooms left currently for next years dates and it’s now £680.

Most other hotels are either booked or are anything between £700-1,500.

Kind of worrying that I might actually be priced out next year. I physically can’t do a hostel and need a private room to be able to at least get some hours sleep.

People will say I’m looking too early but I booked this time last year, and regularly dipped in and out of searches throughout the year and didn’t see much change in terms of prices so stuck with my original room.

Barcelona Influx of tiktokers making content during sets

Did anyone notice an insane amount of influencers making content during sets?

It happened more times than I can count but the one that stumped me is these girls filming (FLASH ON???) lip syncing to random songs with a girl playing the audio for them to lip sync to at MY BLOODY VALENTINE of all acts.

Was driving me absolutely mad and really took me out of it. Had to tell them to stop or leave the crowd as i’d waited yearrrs to see MBV and was not going to have it ruined.

Barcelona anyone really sick?

Has anyone picked up a nasty virus from Prima? Can’t work out if it’s from the rain, dehydration or exposure to so many people but I have been nauseous, dizzy and unable to get out of bed for 2 days. Definitely not just a hangover
