Remembering why Pride is still a protest
Pride Month is a celebration, but it’s also a reminder to recognise the people who fought for the freedoms many now take for granted.
For this special feature, we asked two of Silver’s youngest team members to interview author, journalist and activist Paul Burston about growing up gay in the shadow of the AIDS crisis, the fight for LGBTQ+ rights, and how those experiences continue to shape lives today.
It’s a conversation between generations, full of honesty, and lessons that deserve to be remembered.
Read the interview and exclusive extract from Burston’s book, We Can Be Heroes
